At best MP3 is doing "okay" in its sales compared to what it really deserves.

According to http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=6969in Japan MP3 does not have any sales?????

I would think with the release in Japan surely MP3 would have been in the million units sold club.

Does anyone have the real sales of MP3 in japan because they dont even show up on VGchartz?

VGCHARTZ.com isn't a great place to find out numbers. I remember vgchartz.com posting up 700,000 copies of Mario Galaxy sold in America and the next day I go to other sites and they all reported that it sold 500,000.

It may not even do well when it is released... I remember reading somewhere that they totally disregard the Prime series.... or something along those lines. "disregard' may be a bad choice of words though...oh well

Yes, just look at the numbers of the first Prime and Echoes, they don't sell well in any way in Japan..... Which is sad because it's such a great game, especially the first, but the third one is pretty great with new controls and stuff.

I don't know what's wrong with the Japanese, I am married to a Japanese woman, but nothing is wrong with her :P, so... but she said to me once that people over there are getting very bored with what you can do with a console, they can care less about it now than 10 years ago. You'll still get people buying a home console, but most Japanese have moved on to other areas like the handhandle consoles.

It seems to me that Japan is moving farther away from home consoles and embracing handhandle more and more each generation because of the craze of cell phone gaming.

well they were the ones that made it awsome maybe they are ready for the next level. I am just pissed at them for at least not recognizing an awsome game like SMG. They will go out and by FF spin offs in the droves but when the 5 year awaited Mario game comes they are not showing that much enthusiasm. maybe its advertising something nintendo always neglects i dont know though. In America we buy games like Madden in the droves and we over glorify shooters so we have our faults as well.

Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3 don't have enough girls with eyes taking up half of their faces w/ginormous bouncy jubblies, and there's a distinct lack of men with more feminine features than not. Mario isn't going to be anyone's Bishi, they don't have a chance.

Yeah it might not, Metroid is a game made with western audiences in mind, so I dont think sells will be through the roof.

I'm not flaming I'm stating my point which I've backed up hundreds of times it seems

The Japanese culture is the only one that doesn't follow the status quo when it comes to video games. They're not inundated with bland shooters or GTA spinoffs till the cows come home.

There's actually a very diverse selection of genres that they support.

Metroid wont sell well in Japan because the series has been landlocked with the whole Prime direction. When you're fighting tooth and nail for console sales you need to switch up the formula. Now the controls certainly do that but sometimes that's just not enough.

It's the same reason that Battalion Wars isn't in Japan. They don't take well to the "new coat of paint on an old product" way of thinking like Western cultures do.

Japanese players don't care for first person shooters much, nor do they like games developed by western companies. So MP3 is gonna do just as bad as 1 and 2 did.

MP3 has not released in Japan yet. But given that WiiFit came out today there, they may be too busy with that to really care when it does.

Well its interesting, because I remember reading a long time ago that Metroid games don't sell nearly as well in Japan as they do in the States

I had much more respect for Japan's taste until recently when they dont buy games like Metroid Prime justbecause its made by an American devloper is just lame and race/region snobby.I think what you are saying was more true last gen when they were really buying the games that really held quality and sophistication. Its pathetic they barely buy SMG, I think tastes for games are changing but anyone can see sMG nearly perfect and one fot he greatest games of out time.

I am sorry but FF is just a new coat of paint and there is no way around denying that they buy those games. Keeping in mind here in America it is pathetic that games like Madden and GTA reign supreme for all the wrong reasons, but look at Wii sales all the games that really hold quality are being backed up by NA gamers, Americans specifically and to a certain degreeEurope as well.

BTW Battalion Wars may not have utilized the enormous potential that it really had but it was still a good game. We buy the awsome games that come from Japan, they barely look at our games and now they arent even paying attention to theirs that much.

Yeah, here's my tip to you. Before you call someone a fool you might want to do your research.

The first Metroid (2D) sold around a million copies in Japan which was very good considering that the title was a completely new type of game and had actual competition in Japan unlike it's US counterpart. The US version only moved about 300 grand more.

Super Metroid's sales were HIGHER in Japan then they were in the US.

So buy not selling well in Japan you mean either close to matching or SURPASSING the US sales?

Well that's sure an interesting way to say it.

You have got to be joking. First off, the Japanese will only buy something made by a Japanese developer and will only purchase a Japanese console. They also buy the same games over and over again. Look at their top games. They'll buy anything with Dragonquest or Final Fantasy in the title, no matter what the quality is. They'd rather buy a cheap gimmick game than a game that is actually good like Galaxy or Prime.

In America and Europe we actually buy all types of games. We don't care if an American made it or the Japanese made it. We buy the game because it's good or don't buy it because its not. We buy games like Halo and then we buy games like Galaxy and then we buy games like Final Fantasy. We enjoy all genres and actually look for quality when purchasing a game.

I would own you right here because your post was so foolish and lacked any sort of intelligence, but as its already shown two other people have already done that for me. I am sorry but where the Japanese gamers used to be the ones driving the sales for the good games, hence retaining good games for the future. that isnt true anymore and Wii software sales are hurting because they simply dont buy games that have quality anymore unless they are on the DS.

SMG is not selling "spectacular" if a much more successful series and has only sold 400,000 units and is barely on the top ten selling list. These sales arent bad per se but they are not good considering how spectacular of agame this is and how well its selling elsewhere.

MP3 is not as good as SMG, its made in the US (a huge negative for the japanese), and its a late release. All factors that show it wont sell great. I hope I am wrong and Im not saying its definite. If you read my original post I thought that there was so few that VGchartz did not record it but I did not know it had not come out yet.

Seriously thought I will be happy if you are right and it sells well. This game deserves to be well beyond the 2 million mark by now.
