Since MP2 had splitscreen multiplayer, you can almost certainly be sure that there will be splitscreen also in MP3.
Also, since the online capabilities in MP: Hunters was such a success, it would be mad if they didnt include online play in Corruption.

MP2's split-screen was not very good and was put down by players. (Retro knows that we didn't like it)

I'm sure it will be online, i mean hunters has pretty good online so why shouldn't corruption. Only problem is that it has to have good single player as well. That is probably why it was delayed.
Im not 100% positive MP3 will have online, but I think its extremely likely or at least probable. Reggie said they wanted MP3 perfect in respects to how well MP2 sold. So really that means a couple things to generate sales and they are Online/Multiplayer component and a release before Halo 3, to me at least.
MP2 came out less than a week after Halo 2 came out. Halo 2 had everything going for, sequel to Xbox's must have Halo, improved multiplayer with online play that was huge. MP2 had not so much hype and an extremely weak multiplayer mode. It was completely overshadowed by Halo 2 launch.
So having MP3 release Q2 this year would give it some breathing room before the blockbuster titles come out and build up momentum and hype, and if online multiplayer is included that would help get even more sales and hype, helping both the Metroid series but also Wii's FPS and Online image. But again thats just my view on things.

It isn't official, but there is a great possibility for it to be online. It was supposed to be a launch title (or it was supposed to come out at the beginning of 2007), but it was delayed because they wanted to add more features. I'm thinking online features, but again, it's just a possibility.
it would explain the delay. when seeing the latest videos for mp3 it looks pretty much ready. the only things they could really think of improving/perfecting could be:
1)Graphics
2)Controls
3)Possible online play
If battlion wars 2 is going to be online i can;t see why mp3 can't
Co-op would be perfect for Metroid Prime's formula, IMO. Unlike FPS games like COD, where there's lots of scripted events that can only be triggered once, Metroid Prime is usually just about exploring and figuring out how to explore even more. If you could walk around with a friend and help each other figure out where to go, that'd be awesome.
Samus Aran's the lone wolf of all the games, yeah, but Four Swords Adventures let Link morph into 3 other players, so I don't see what the big deal is :P
