Mixed Feelings About Beating a Game

Whenever I beat a game, especially a long one that I really loved,I get mixed feelings. One isI am really happy to have accomplished finishing a game. However, a lot of times, especially in games thatI really loved I feel a bit sad or empty because it's finished. I knowI can go back and get 100% completion or I can go through the game again, but it's not the same and I'm more of a main story kind of guy any ways.

I just finished Tales of Symphonia (gamecube game being played on my wii) and I spent almost 50 hours on the main quest. I'm going to miss playing this game beacuse I got attached to the characters and the story was incredible. I felt the same about Final Fantasy IV and VII, and all the Zelda's and Mario's.

Anyone else feel the same way?

Depends how hard it was... If its one of those "try the final boss 50 times" type of deal I am glad its over.

Kinda sad when RPGs end though...

If its an Xbox 360 game I of course keep playing until I have all of the achievements unlocked.

I know exactly where you are coming from. Finishing games is a terrible feeling.

I personally love all of the legend of zelda games, and when I finish them it's like "wow... it's over... NOOOOOOO!!!"
Playing through a game again certainly isn't the same. It's a shame there isn't a game with a fantastic story that literally lasts forever.

Its not a bad (9.0 IMO) but WW(beautifullgraphics and gameplay,sidequests up to 20 hours a 9.5 IMO)and TP(perfected OOT still a 9.5 for me)are better.

TP > OOT any day of the week. Not sure about WW. I love it's art style and gameplay but for some reason it didn't immerse me like TP did.

WW art style is very beautifull and TP just perfected OOT IMO.

I felt that way after beating Mario galaxy because I knew it was pretty much over. Does anyone ever wish that they can erase all memories of that game a start all over again just to reclaim the same feelings you had when you first started playing the game?Travo_basic

Lol yes! I'm actually about to start going through Wind Waker again, and I'm hoping my memories of it are hazy enough so that it will still feel somewhat fresh... but it will never be like the first time through.

I hope so. I need to play the game again since I'm looking the sequel. I never had the chance to beat it. I almost completed the first disk. Now, I need to restart the game since it's been awhile that I played it. It's the time that I didn't have to play it. Since 2004, I never really have the chance to play it.

What makes it better the second time?

Well you notice more stuff on your second playthrough, like if you were watching a movie and you saw something you didn't notice something the first time. Also, you get to spend your Grade on some cool stuff.

Plus, it's the best RPG of the last generation.

You may not have to start over, just read through the synopsis and it will refresh your memory... This was one of the greatest things in this game, it kept track of the story and you could refer back to it. Helped me many times when I had no time to play for a week or two. i could pick up where i left off by rereading parts of the story if I forgot where I was to go next.

I felt exactly the same way when I beat ToS. Good news is, they are making a sequel.

I havn't really gotten that way about a game in a while but I do know what you mean. Last one like that was Ace Combat 5, I got so into that game, the plot, the characters that when I heard this will be your final sortie I almost cried.SpikeX22

I rented that game and got sooo into it I went looking to buy it but couldn't find it anywhere. So I eventually picked up Ace Combat 4 and Ace Combat Zero, but I've yet to get as involved in either one of them like I did into 5. Really awesome game.

if you like tales of symphonia go play tales of the abyss once you get into it you cant go back to symphonia. i tried and i kept trying to free run and and do hi ougis.Nickmanx5

I find the Tales of the Abyss to be fairly worse than Symphonia. But on the other hand my sister says it's way better. Strange huh?

I don't know, in Abyss, I didn't like the characters at all, wasn't too fond of the story, didn't like the special moves (except for the crazy FoF's :P), and overall I just thought it was kind of worse. I did like the free run in battles and I did like the better camera for co-op but still. It just wasn't the same :(.
