Okay if you go to Gonintendo you most likely caught this but if you don't for some strange reason this came in from GameDaily today in an Interviewwith Miyamoto(san?)

A portion of a GameDaily interview with Miyamoto...

BIZ: What is your response to people who love, say, Super Mario Galaxy, but who are not so interested in things like Wii Music?

SM: My attitude is that obviously for 30 years now I've been making games and for the vast majority of time I've been making the type of games that the loyal Nintendo fans enjoy. Those are the types of games that my career is based on and we're going to continue to make those types of games. In fact, we have many of those types of games in development right now.

Well what do you think?

Are you happy? Should we start speculating/hyping?If you were thinking of selling your Wii,Are you now going to keep it?

Theres more to this interview if you want to see it, Click This

There was never a question that they're making more games like Mario I don't know why people think these games are stopping. Someone is actually wasting this man's time asking "are you going to make anymore games?" I mean what fool asks this man if they're going to keep on making games like Mario? Why aren't they fired?

It's a wonder Miyamoto doesn't want to retire because he seems to get harassed witht these kinds of questions all the time.

I know that but there are still whiners(though its been a while since they've posted) that think that Nintendo isn't developing any games for them. Though no platform or series were mentioned you have to think he's talking about what the Loyal fans want and about this generation

The only people who didn't know this were people who saw Wii Music and thought that was the end.

I'm sick of hearing "there's Mario and Zelda on the way." What about fresh IPs from you guys? NO, NOT WII MUSIC! Why can't why we get more stuff like Disaster or Excite Truck from Nintendo?

Luckily, we've got Punch-out, Sin and Punishment and Kid Icarus on the way, but what about a fresh hardcore IP? Even GC had Pikmin for crying out loud. And I actually enjoyed Geist.

Well, people who played the game (Conduit) only had good things to say about it.

I made a thread about it, if you care give it a look. Hype/Info Thread: The Conduit (56k, no)

well of course nintendo is making games for the core audience. it would just be nice if they would show off their progress every now and then. theyve gotta have some solid details on atleast one of them that they can feed us dogs. thats my big problem with nintendo's marketing this gen. they are keeping games under a tighter lid than usual. sure, sometimes they get delayed because of some unforseen trouble, but its much easier to wait when you know what you are waiting for.

*dripping sarcasm*

Well, when Miyamoto himself says that their latest release is not a game and when it turns out that their R&D budget has been focused on developing software to blend people's faces together and mutate them on DS, it does take some reassurance.

Agreed. People need to relax. We got nothing but quality hardcore titles from Nintendo this gen. Sure they all came at once so now we're in a draught this holiday, at least first party.

But, we know the games will be coming, and they are only getting better.

People need to give Miyamoto a break.

Yeah, I'm also getting either a PS3 or 360 (probably PS3 because I won't have to worry about it breaking) for something to play in between Nintendo's games. I'm keeping my Wii because it has some kickass games on the way, but I just want some games to play while I wait.

Yeah everyone from Nintendo says this and gets ignored, as long as people see games like Wii Fit and Wii Music on shelves that means Nintendo stopped making games for core players. They completely ignore the fact that we got games from almost every major franchise, and that games like Pikmin, Punch Out etc are in the works.

Luckily, we've got Punch-out, Sin and Punishment and Kid Icarus on the way, but what about a fresh hardcore IP? Even GC had Pikmin for crying out loud. And I actually enjoyed Geist.Optusnet

While things like Kid Icarus and Punch Out may not be brand new IP, they have been missing from the gaming world for 20yrs. They are fresh to this new high res, 3D gaming world that they'll be stepping into. So while not brand new, they are new takes on old classics, sort of like the first Metroid Prime.

Nintendo has never really been one to dangle games just out of reach to make gamers salivate. They said absolutely nothing that I can recall about Animal Crossing: City Folk until they first showed it and were like "oh yeah and it's coming out in a few months". Then with Disaster: Day of Crisis we again heard absolutely nothing until they were like "oh yeah, that game, here's a boatload of videos and it's coming out in a month".

Really, fanservice does absolutely nothing. It doesn't change when a game will come out; it doesn't change what a game will contain; and the masses who are the ones who really need to be convinced to buy a game probably aren't going to pay attention to any of that. Nintendo knows that and knows that they'd just be wasting time and money to come out with pointless teasers and whatnot. Their fans complain, but at the end of the day they'll all come back and all will be forgiven when the game is released - I don't think anyone's ever said "yeah, I was gonna play a game, but they didn't release any teasers for it, so now I'm not going to".

I do not hype easy. That say I do not sell my console. i have seen to many ppl sell just to see 2 month later a game taht they want. So I keep both of my babies, they look cute together anyway :P

Also I`m waiting for FF4... and tales of Symphonia.. and considering taht I do not have much free time.. those are plenty for me :P

That said I would not hype about that if I were a N fan

Yeah. When Reggie said core gamers are never satisfied, he was right. And then the same people got angry at him for saying that...

If core gamers were satisfied, Nintendo would be out of business long ago.

It's especially hard to be satisfied with Nintendo though when all of their new core games take the form of future promises and the only thing on our plates now is casual crap.

No, I think it's like you don't have any Nintendo games to play, so you wonder where they are and what Nintendo is up to.

And before the "don't ignore the 3rd party games!" brigade lynches me, yes, third party games are great, and are the only source of games coming out for Wii that I'm excited about. Which brings me back to criticising Nintendo for not currently supporting their system with core games, or even, say, *gasp!* new core IP rather than sequels. What we currently have from them is a music game for five-year-olds and a casual game most already played in 2001. And, we have assurances and promises and sweet nothings Nintendo whispers in our ears about how things will get better, that there are good things to come but we've got to wait. And wait. And wait.

Loyal fans will be loyal still, even to the point of approving of Nintendo representatives when they insult and sneer at them by calling them geeks and otaku, or show their disdain by telling them they're ignoring them. Loyal fans love that abuse! "Yes! I deserve to be ignored! Please do ignore me - you absolutely should. My desires and demands are irrational, so pay me no heed! I'm worthless!" Whatever. Nintendo simply is not the #1 publisher for Wii.

They also continued the HAMMER project.
And it isn't like we see that many Mario's or Zelda's. They're one of a kind, high quality titles that appear only once in 3-5 years or so.
I'm sure they'll make more things.
Don't forget about Captain Rainbow.

and those who say that there is no problem are blind fanboys. do you see the ps3 or the 360 going through any droughts? no. its obvious that there is a problem right now. true we are told that games are coming, but we have nothing NOW to tide us over for the next 6 months. and with this drought starting after MK wii was released, this drought will end up being about a year long.

so its not that people are mad because they think that games are never coming, theyre mad because of how long its taking

Yeah, I agree. Since MKWii, not many quality games have come out. Although I think that the drought will end next year, they're releasing 2 good games in AC:CF and TOS2 this year and the 2009 lineup looks pretty strong. But if the drought is going to be over, they're going to have to release a game from a major franchise like Pikmin or Starfox.

[QUOTE="LoG-Sacrament"]well of course nintendo is making games for the core audience. it would just be nice if they would show off their progress every now and then. theyve gotta have some solid details on atleast one of them that they can feed us dogs. thats my big problem with nintendo's marketing this gen. they are keeping games under a tighter lid than usual. sure, sometimes they get delayed because of some unforseen trouble, but its much easier to wait when you know what you are waiting for. GabuEx

Their fans complain, but at the end of the day they'll all come back and all will be forgiven when the game is released - I don't think anyone's ever said "yeah, I was gonna play a game, but they didn't release any teasers for it, so now I'm not going to".

well thanks for proving my point about nintendo this gen with your first paragraph :P thats in contrast to the last two zelda games (TP will always be a gcn game), which were announced, in trailer form, years prior to their release. those waits were easier to take because i had an idea of what i was getting (even if WW didnt look much like the spaceworld trailer).

and yes, releasing epic trailers featuring music from conan the barbarian for every game isnt cost effective. but it doesnt have to be in that form. just releasing some concrete details on a couple features and some screens to accompany them costs next to nothing.
