I'm giving into nostalgia and buying MK: A today, but I'm still torn between the $20 PS2 version and the $50 Wii version. The controls look fun (except for the use of the the direction pad for punches and kicks), but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra cash... Convince me.

i just bought it about a week or so ago, unaware of the ps2 deal, i just found out from you haha. i think it's pretty fun, i haven't had a mortal kombat game since trilogy 4 the n64, and i was amazed when i saw all the characters (mega plus). As for gameplay, you'll first probably be a little flustered, but give it about twenty minutes, and you should get it. there is also a controlls learning mode where you are taught every move by that character, so no need to go online. arcade is just like it used to be, and adventure is pretty fun, if you get bored of arcade. multiplayer is pretty fun too. as for "motor kombat" (a part in the game in which you race in a go kart?), it's really fun. controls are similar to that of excite truck. you hold the controller sideways and turn it side to side to turn. it definately helps in your decision of if the price is worth it. i'm not going to make your decision, but overall, it's a great game, I say go for it.

Thanks for the info. One more thing just came to mind though - how many Kreate-a-Kharacters can you make? I know there was a limit of one per memory card on PS2, though I'm sure I could get around that using the PS3's infinite supply of virtual memory cards.

Wow, you guys were right: the motion-controls make it soooo much better. But man was I pissed for the first 30 minutes or so! It has a real learning curve. After getting used to it, however, I can certainly say that this is the most fun I've had with a Mortal Kombat game since it went 3D.
