Has anyone heard anything about MLB 2K8 for the wii? I know it's out March 3rd. I wasn't sure if anyone knew about the controls, and if the hitting and pitching are actually dependent on how you throw/swing - unlike in the wii sports version of it. I heard that you need to hold the remote vertical and use the nunchuk analog stick... but neither of those makes any sense to me for a baseball game. I was wondering if anyone heard anything about it and how you all think it's going to be.

This is what was posted in a recent interview with one of the game developers here on Gamespot. If you read the entire interview it sounds like it will be a great baseball sim. I just hope that they don't cut some of the features out of the Wii version as has been done with games like Raw vs. Smackdown 2008.

GS: This will be the first year for a Wii entry in the MLB 2K series. What can you tell us about that version and how will it be taking advantage of the Wii's unique capabilities?

BB: We are very excited about the Wii this year. Our game is the only simulation experience on the Wii console and offers a different kind of baseball experience for those looking for more depth in their baseball game. As far as the Wii's unique capabilities, we've incorporated all of the Wii's unique controls into our game, making for a very cool baseball experience.

From the very first time the player starts the game, they are presented with a menu where they can use the pointer in our easy-to-use point-and-click interface. The Nunchuk controller is used to move around the interface if they do not want to use the pointer. More importantly, the gameplay is full of Wii-specific controls.

One thing to note is that you play with the Nunchuk and Wii Remote connected at the same time, as they are both used to complement each other during gameplay. Both peripherals are used when pitching, batting, baserunning, and fielding. These controls really make for a very exciting and fun experience for players.

It sounds worthy of a rent. I love basebal games but the full schedule can be rough.

i just don't see how you can get a 'real baseball experience', or however they put it in the interview if you need to use both the nunchuk and the wii remote to hit... that's gotta be kinda awkward feeling. i also don't understand the whole holding the wii remote vertical to hit either (that's what it says in things i found online).

Yeah, no online =no sale from me. Modern sports games need online multiplayer or it's just a waste of time. Yet another sports game that leaves ya hangin with no replay value. Not impressed.

Why are developers cutting out some of the big extras for the Wii versions but giving them to Xbox 360 and PS3. The last time I checked we are paying the same amount for the game as they are. I would have purchased it with those features. Now I will not purchase it. Hopefully others will do the same to show them that we want the same features as the other systems get.
