I haven't played a monopoly game on any main consoles recently, but the 40$ price tag just seems too steep for me. This game peeked my interest at first with the joy cons as controllers for multiplayer action on one screen. However It's 1$ on ios, for basically the same game. Much like street fighter, i'm just going to wait, and most likely never buy.

no way.... monopoly ios is a barebones monopoly game with old monopoly board from the 90's.

but yea 40$ is steep for someone who doesn't really love monopoly.

I get that the ios version is bare bones, but it's still the basic concept for the game. Guess i would have prefer a digital only release at a cheaper price point. This gets me thinking, i'd like to see a fortune street 2 for the switch. Seems ideal with the local multiplayer.

The only board game that sort of works when converted to a video game is Risk. For all the other board games, it's better to stick with the real thing.

i never learned to play risk. it looked very interesting but i never bought it and no one taught me how to play. it looked a bit complicated so i never tried to learn.

it is on steam in video game form. pretty cool.

monopoly plus on xbox and ps4 is not as good.

switch version has 3 types of 3d city boards. the regular city board (is on ps4/x1) plus switch has exclusive haunted city and amusement park city. i think x1/ps4 you can create your own city not sure it is as cool as having 3 premade cities.

also switch has hd rumble dice gimmick.

switch is portable and can be played anywhere on the go with split joycons.

both versions have online and leaderboards....so that's the same.

and...finally you have to buy a xbox one/ps4 to buy the inferior version at 19.99$

@KBFloYd: Risk is really, really simple. As with any other game where you play against other people, like checkers or domino, it's as deep as the opponents you meet are skilled, but the rules are simple.

But... It's just such a poorly designed board game... Does anyone actually like this game for any reason other than nostalgia?

i loved it since the first time i played it. i have been playing it my whole life in video games and in real life with my family.

so no. it is not nostalgia for me at all.

you might like the video game version if you think it is bad in real life. in video games there are little tricks. like if you buy too much property then the chances of landing on taxes is increased. if you are in danger of landing on houses then your risk of going to jail is increased. little things like that. you might enjoy the video game version more because of little tweaks to the gameplay like that.
