Well we know that the 3DS and Wii-U have connectivity, well Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the first game so far to take advantage of this. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will feature cross platform gaming, so 3DS and Wii-U owners can team up co-operatively over local wireless. Also the transfarring feature that Sony has used with their console and handheld systems works here as well. Players can transfer saves over to there 3DS anytime so they can continue there journey on the go as long as they have both saves. Sadly the 3DS only features local multiplayer while the Wii-U version features full online multiplayer. Still very cool features, I hope more developers take advantage of it. It seems Nintendo is almost locking up the Monster Hunter franchise on Nintendo.

Sadly the 3DS doesn't have online multiplayer, howeverYuri L. Araujo, Associate Online/Community Specialist for Capcom U.S.A said this,

"As for the online support, we've announced the Wii U can go online. 3DS has local multiplayer only. If that's something you really want to see happen, head on to the MH forums and start talking about it there - then I can bring it up the chain with some supporting evidence. =)"

Although the chances of 3DS online play are very slim, if you want it in the game make sure to visit the Monster Hunter forums and have your say and maybe, just maybe we will see online for the 3DS.

Great news, but WTF? The 3DS version doesnt have full online multiplayer, only local wireless! That really pisses me off. I dont have anyone to play local multiplayer with and probably cant afford to get a Wii U for a while.

The thing I don't understand about the whole cross platform gaming is whether or not you need two copies of the game. Do I need to buy a 3DS version and a Wii-U version so I can transfer my saves to the 3DS and play on the go?

Yes you do. How would you transfer saves if you didn't have a copy of the game?

I will buy both versions but it would be nice for at least a discount for buying both.

That's stupid. I'm not paying for the game twice. Sorry, have fun with your copies I guess.

Well if you think about it, (atleast in America anyways) 3DS retail games only go up to $40, so that right there makes it cheaper than the WiiU version which will probably cost $60. Still a bit expensive, but I think it is still worth it.

No online?....:(

Bleh, disappointment. I really hope the connectivity between both versions isn't only allowing us to get material from the Wii-U version (Including the materials exclusive to online) then being able to transfer that material we earn from that game to the 3DS version. That would make me mad.

Probably the only thing I hated about some of the GC and GBA connectivity. Them purposely leaving out content that could have very well been added in the first place in order to force some type of connectivity to unlock it...

Nevermind, I just bothered to read the entire OP lol. It sucks that no online will be available, but allowing us to play the adventure on the go with 3DS is a plus...

Yeah, an offer simmilar to Sonys "Buy the PS3 version get the Vita version free" would have been nice, but it's Monster Hunter, it's worth paying for twice if it shows Capcom that it's worth continuing to bring the games, not only to Nintendo platforms, but to us in the west as well.

Hopefully there will be the same deal that the PS3 and PSVita have where you buy the console version and get the handheld version free. If not you can forget about it, there is no reason why I would pay twice for the same game.

I sucks that there isn't going to be online MP on the 3DS but I do have friends to play with so I'm not playing solo all the time.

Essentially, yes it's 3G with cross platform play enabled. That's about all they added. The WiiU version is much more worthwhile since it has online, (presumably) HD graphics, will most likely run better, and will probably control better thanks to the dual analogue.
