My friend buys a lot of Virtual console and Wii ware stuff. Now he has room for 1 more game and he's pissed a Nintendo because they don't let him save to the SD card. The fact that other games do the same thing (SSBB) really doesn't help. I can understand that Nindendo may be afraid that people might copy some Wiiware/VC games to other consoles, ultimately losing them money. However, I don't agree with not being able to copy most disc games to the SD card. Why do they do this? Also, why did Nintendo give the Wii owner 4 screens to fit channels if it's hard to find enough memory for 2 1/2?

This has been talked about millions of times. Nintendo doesn't think it's a problem because according to them, "It's only a small fraction of users".

I've pretty much given up on the possibility of a hard drive but the fact that they don't let us read directly from SD cards isn't acceptible. It shows they could care less about their most devoted fans.

Also, I'm pretty sure you can fill all the channels if you only download NES games.

They've been saying that for the past year. It's a bit of a standard company response. Afterall, they are not going to say straight out, "No, we'll never fix the storage problem that we created."

But "looking into it" and actually doing it are two different things. I just hope they are serious this time. All they'd have to do is open up that SD slot with a software upgrade.

GH songs or normal mp3, midi, etc. songs?

For the normal songs you just put the sd card in your pc and store the songs in it, for the GH songs you download them from your wii.

The fact that Nintendo hasn't done the transfer feature for the SD card, shows how much trust they have in the people they sell there products to.

well the company line is that you're supposed to be erasing games that you're not immediately playing. You can download them again for free whenever you want to.

It's kind of a lame excuse, and nintendo should just give us more memory, but the advice I would give to your friend is to do what nintendo says and erase some games he doesn't play as much anymore and just download them again if he wants to play them again. I know, it sucks

Nindendo may be afraid that people might copy some Wiiware/VC games to other consoles, ultimately losing them money. However,

kamakun
you cant get VC games or wii ware games onto other consoles from SD cards but you can already get it back onto your own wii.

No, but it makes piracy easier. I'm pretty sure that's why Nintendo restricted SD card usage in the first place.

Piracy will always exist no matter what. we just want to stream data off an SD card without deleting/redownloading. I don't see how that makes piracy easier.
