Here's the link. It might not be that important since I don't think I would ever use a 3DS to listen to music but its nice to see Nintendo embracing the 21st century.

cool i can transfer all my ipod music over to it and use it instead now instead of carrying two things around i can carry jus tone
The only way this would matter to me is if we could listen to our music while playing the game or anything. Doubt that will happen though.ZumaJones07
Actually I'd say its a given, at least in a future update
I mean we will be able to take notes, and browse the web while playing games, so why not jam out?
On topic: I do plan on the 3DS replacing my old iPod. It uses up to 32GB cards, plays mp3s, and won't be like the DSi and only recognize up to X amount of songs on an SD card (it was like 2GBs of songs which is like 500 or so) where as I can migrate my entire 4,000 song collection to the 3DS
I already picked up a 16GB SD card new for $17 last year, looking forward to using it here
Hoping for a 3DS/DS on demand service to add to the use of that SD card, but that's off topic
Heck, I'll probably trade in the 2GB card immediately to get $5 off the price of the 3DS lol
If Nintendo wants to compete they would use more audio formats to support.

That means paying royalties for those formats on every 3DS sold. Why bother? I seriously doubt having them would actually improve hardware sales. In fact I honestly believe that with the exception of DVD for the PS2 and Blu-Ray for the PS3, multimedia support has had minimal influence on console sales in general.

this... except for the SD card part. my music collection is small enough to fit my 2GB card :P[QUOTE="ZumaJones07"]The only way this would matter to me is if we could listen to our music while playing the game or anything. Doubt that will happen though.darth-pyschosis

hmm id say this will be more a game by game basis thing if it does happen. if devs are pushing the system hard and its also trying to run a media file in the background then it could hurt performance. the 3DS does have the ability to do the things you mention but it pauses the game when you do them which free the processors up.[QUOTE="thedude-"]If Nintendo wants to compete they would use more audio formats to support.

I think you underestimate how much smartphones features are threatening dedicated handhelds?[QUOTE="ThePlothole"][QUOTE="thedude-"]If Nintendo wants to compete they would use more audio formats to support.

lol loved the comparison :PThe only way this would matter to me is if we could listen to our music while playing the game or anything. Doubt that will happen though.ZumaJones07
Man, that would be awesome. Like if you could set a playlist to running in the background and then boot a game with an option to play your playlist or the game music.
So we could play Nintendogs with, say, Linkin Park in the background. Damn we're hardcore.
