Hi Guys, I'm a Flash/PC game developer. Just bought myself a 55" LED 3D TV and thought of trying out all mainstream consoles. So gonna buy XBOX 360 (with Kinect), PlayStation 3 (with Move), and Wii. I'm not biased towards any of the consoles, I'm quite open-minded and easily adapt to anything at every given minute. I've thought of eventually developing my games for these three consoles, but before that I need to become a gamer on these consoles myself! Anyway the TV and consoles cut my budget short so I can buy only six games for each consoles. So I need to choose carefully! Help me out~ Question: Top 6 games that's a must have for Wii. Its either exclusive franchise or somethings that best played on Wii. Suggest away. (I think I might want one pokemon at least!) Note: I'm from South Asia, so only games that can be played on my Wii. I'm not at all sure if Wii has regional blocks. Note 2: I'm a GIRL, and yes I'm not that interested in war games but that's fine too. If its pretty good and immersive, I will play ANYTHING. Also I don't want all of them to be cutesy games. One or two on the list is fine though. What I'm looking for are games to immerse myself into Wii and get an addictive, graphical, and fun experience out of it.

Personally, I'd recommend... 1.) Super Mario Galaxy - excellent platformer, definitely a unique wii experience 2.) Super Mario Galaxy 2 - like the original, only better 3.) Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword - great adventure with great use of motion controls 4.) Mario Kart Wii - a fun racing experience, more fun when played with friends 5.) Wii Sports Resort - excellent showcase of the wii motion (plus) controls, and a fun minigame collection 6.) Red Steel 2 - another game that uses the motionplus controls very well, also quite unique (think of it as a first person perspective game that hybridizes a shooter and a beat-em-up and puts it all in a wacky anime setting that fuses spaghetti western, samurai movies, steampunk and post-apocalyptic sci-fi) All unique and immersive in their own ways, and all uniquely Wii, in that they put the control system to good use.

1. SMG2 2. DKCr 3. LoZ SS 4. Metroid prime 3 5. No More hereos 2 6. Red Steel 2 all of these are great games that any Wii owner should have in their collection. It was tough only picking 6, but this is a assortment of different genres and the best(imo) that Wii has to offer.

Definitely SMG2 and DKCR! Amazing games. Punch-Out and Super Paper Mario are fun and only $20 now. Trauma Center: Second Opinion and :New Blood were cool and unique. Zelda: SS and GoldenEye, too, are good.

My 6 ones would be: * Zelda Skyward Sword. Just Excellent motion controls and engaging story (may require some previous knowledge as there are too much references to the Zelda series) * Mario Galaxy 2. Innovative gameplay, excellent graphics and a great progression from basics to really hard challenges * Wii Party. A great way to take the game "out of the box", as it integrates several fresh ideas on how to play with your environment or including more than what you see at the screen * Silent Hill Shattered Memories. Deep story and unexpected turns, a psychological challenge and great environments. A real nightmare * Just Dance 3. Simple use of controls but reliable enough to be fun and a real social glue. Also, tons of extras making it hard to put it to rest * Godfather. Excellent motion controls and associated actions that put you in the shoes of your character. It fails to be a great open world game as the world soon gets "controllable", but the gameplay is actually great Hope this works. For me there are tons of other games, but I wanted to suggest you some with outstanding features or even a little bit outlooked by time or opinion Regards

I recommended you six Xbox 360 exclusives on your thread.

The six Wii games you should play are:

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Okami

Super Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 or both

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

No More Heroes (but not the sequel, it sucks)

Klonoa

Be sure to note the similarities between Twilight Princess and Okami and what each one does. They were both originally released in 2006 almost side by side. The two Galaxy games are the pinnacle of 3D platforming. Brawl is the best multiplayer game on the platform. No More Heroes is the surest sign of zany-ass personality boosting a game's actual quality. And Klonoa is remake of a PS1 platforming gem. I prefer it to New Super Mario Bros. Wii and especially dig how well the (childish) story ties in perfectly with the actual platforming levels.

ok no easy feat this!

1. resident evil 4

simply because it is the best version of a brilliant game, the controls, especially the aiming system are excellent

2. mariokart wii

without a doubt the best multiplayer game......ever, and the online modes are cracking with pretty much no lag

3. super mario galaxy

a truly beautiful and charming game

4. zack and wiki

another wonderfully enchanting puzzle game

5. house of the dead : overkill

mindless splatter yes, but still very very entertaining!

6. monster hunter tri

the sheer scale of this game is breath taking, especially for what is considered to be a much lower spec system, it looks and feel massive, add in the excellent online modes and this will keep you busy for ages!

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

2. Super Mario Galaxy (1 or 2)

3. Metroid Prime Trilogy

4. Super Smash Bros. Brawl

5. Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon (not a very well known game, and some argue that the gameplay isn't even good, but it's still one of my favorite games ever)

6. No More Heroes 2 or Monster Hunter Tri. Can't decide between those 2 haha.

If you can only get six games, get the most variety for your buck so you can see the Wiis strengths and weaknesses in a variety of gameplay situations.

- Xenoblade Chronicles (RPG)

- Donkey Kong Country Returns (2D Platformer)

- Super Mario Galaxy 2 (3D Platformer)

- Metroid Prime Trilogy (FPA)

- Mario Kart Wii (Racing)

- Monster Hunter Tri (Action Adventure)WreckEm711

Best recommendation so far . Not getting why so many people are recomending Super Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2. If she is only going to play six games to get the feel for the console why would you recommend basically the same game twice? :?

The only personal adjustment I'd make to the above list is switch "Donkey Kong Country Returns" with "New Super Mario Bros Wii" Mostly because of the 4-player co-op that HAS to be experienced. You and your friends will never laugh so hard! If you can't find 2-3 players to join you for that experience then I'd probably recommend DKC:R but for someone trying to get the full experience of the wii, NSMBW should not be missed

We must be long lost siblings or something, I was torn over which of the two to include, but I gave Retro the nudge because I heart them :P

Just SIX?!? Oh well, here goes...:

  1. Super Mario Galaxy
  2. Super Mario Galaxy 2
  3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  4. Mario Kart Wii
  5. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
  6. Metroid Prime 3 (or better yet, Metroid Prime Trilogy if you can find it at a fair price)

All six are exclusives to the Wii, and I would consider them as "must-have" type games as you're bound to find on the system.

I only chose one of the SMG games I chose SMG2 because I think it is a lot better then SMG. I love that they brought back the map system of the side scrolling games and brought to a 3D game.

They're also nearly identical, if TC can only get six games, wasting a spot on essentially the same thing is nonsensical :?

Best recommendation so far . Not getting why so many people are recomending Super Mario Galaxy 1 AND 2. If she is only going to play six games to get the feel for the console why would you recommend basically the same game twice? :?

WreckEm711

They're two of the best games on the system, many consider them to be the best two games on a system. It makes perfect sense that people would recommend the best games.

They're also nearly identical, if TC can only get six games, wasting a spot on essentially the same thing is nonsensical :?

If I was buying 6 games I would want the 6 best, not the 6 most diverse,

Amazing list!! I didnt think I'll be getting so many responses. Luckily there are quite a few repeats among all your recommendations. I'm going through screenchots and reviews to figure out the list I can get. Chances are I may be able to get 10+ games for wii as unlike the other two consoles the price does not average $50 for wii~

You guys are amazing, lovely suggestions. :)

"Its either exclusive franchise or somethings that best played on Wii." Super Mario Galaxy 2 LoZ: Skyward Sword Xenoblade Metroid Prime 3 (People are saying "get Metroid Prime Trilogy", but you'll be hard-pressed to find a cheap copy of this. Mine cost me $70 used.) Punch-Out!! Kirby's Epic Yarn (Not because it's cutesy, but because it's fantastic)

If I was buying 6 games I would want the 6 best, not the 6 most diverse,

But the TC isn't asking for just the 6 best games to sit down and play. She has a goal and a budget and wants 6 games that will represent the system. Even if you beleive both SMG and SMG2 to hold 2 spots in the top 6 of your personal favourites your recommending she buy 6 and play 5. I'm sure she will get a feel for the SMG series by playing one or the other so if you loved both you should only recommend your favourite of the 2.

The reason why WreckEm's list I believe to be the most helpful is because he did a great job of selecting a wide variety of genres that compliments the wii's strengths and selected the must have title for each genre. If him and I were simply listing our 6 favourite games on the system i'm sure both our lists would look a little different.

The best representation of a system comes from its best games. Would you rather play a better game or a worse game?
