My father isnt that young or anything. He's 55 yrs old, and although thats not super old either im surprised he hasn't picked up a video game controller before. Hes always watched me, and he knows some of the Mario songs, and most of the Nintendo characters including Link Gorons, and the zoras etc, but hes never played a game before. So I was playing Super Mario Galaxy 2, and out of nowhere he appears and watches me play the game like he does sometimes. Eventually he asks to play, and he starts playing. It was funny watching him because he was continually mimicking Mario's voice, and jumping everytime he shook the controller, and or got close to an enemy. So my question is this. Are your parents gamers or have they at least played video games before? My parents are far from being gamers.

My dad has an old Atari that we drag out sometimes, we play classics like Pac-man, Missile Command, and Donkey Kong. He isn't one for more modern games though, one time I paused Starfox 64, came back later, and my dad was standing there trying to play it and failing terribly :P

My dad decided to try out the Wii Sports Resort table tennis the other day. He sucked at it  He's quite far from being a gamer, heck he's anti games! It was really surprising to see him actually pick up a controller.

My Dad loves Guitar Hero and Mom loves Mario and the CSI games.

My Mom is a great definition of a Casual PC gamer. She loves Card games on the computer.

My parents are far from gamers, they're like anti technology. They have these really simple "senior" cellphones even though I told them you can get a friggin' smartphone with touchscreen and all that for the same price.

Anyway, my mom have never played any game and my dad used to play a little when I was younger. We played NHL '99 but he just completely sucked and so did I, everything I did in that game was for the purpose of getting into "fight mode". He also tried to play Goldeneye a bit but he never managed to leave the men's restroom (first room of the first level if I remember correctly).

my dad is in his 70s now and he will indeed play video games with me from time to time. last time he was in town to visit me he got hooked on house of the dead: overkill. he got obsessed with getting on the high score list. by the time he left he had managed to claim the #1 spot on half of the levels. He would stay up late at night after I went to bed trying to get those high scores. he also beats me at most of the wii sports games. he's competitive it's great.

Aww lol cute story. :)

My dad is like 50, he won't play on any of the big consoles, but he'll occasionally steal my DS and try to play some Mario Kart or one of my old GBA platforming games. Needless to say, he isn't very good. :P

My mom thinks video games are dumb and a waste of time.

My mom played Super Mario World with me back in the day. She's also played the Mario Party games, Tetris, Wii Sports and a few other games with me. She'd probly play any Mario game with me too if I asked her to. And she rocks at Dr. Mario

I think my dad's only played Tetris and Wheel of Fortune 64. Oh he's played Pool Party and Wii Sports also. And he likes to play card games on the computer.

They also both play Wii Fit.

I could never get my parents to play them. My pop was born in 1930, so they seemed foreign to him. I gave my mom a DS for Christmas (she recently turned 60), but she's only played with it 2 or 3 times.

I got bored of Wii Sports so I taught my mom how to play Mario Galaxy 1 and Twilight Princess.

She kept falling into black holes so we switched to Zelda. She rocks at combat, but sucks at using items. :P
She said that there's "too much" button control for items. I'm sure Skyward Sword will be perfect for her. ;)

We only finished one dungeon, she quited after seeing the boss so I had to take over. xD

Then we decided to go back to Galaxy and finally beat the first Bowser level. It took a few months though....

I just bought SMG2 today, and I'm sure she's gonna hate it.

Oh come on you're just like them!

The interface looks like it's from the '90s and everything is just oversized.

Now tell me why would you pay for this when you can pay the same money on something much more advanced? Like a smartphone with touchscreen. Sure they won't use all the features but at least the features are AVAILABLE. It's a complete rip off, they want something easy to handle but simple =/= user friendliness.

My parents are who introduced me to video games. At the age of 3 I was already able to beat the first 2 worlds of Super Mario World and 3 bosses in Mega Man X (Chill Penguin, Storm Eagle, and Flame Mammoth) My mom still knows all the secrets of Super Mario Bros. and my dad has had to put them down for the past year or 2, he's finishing college. He'll help me on the 2 player things on Little Big Planet, and he dominates me in like every Street Fighter or sports game, even if he's never played before. For about a month he was in my room every day playing the original LoZ on my Wii.

Oh, and my dad's 36. Had me at the age of 20.

My dad has never played anything other than pinball, and probably would be REDICULOUSLY **** at even a simple game like Mario. My grandma on the other hand, is freaking awesome. She's the reason I got into games, I used to play her Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo at her house back when I was young. I still play the Castlevania series to this day. She also had a playstation later on, but that's gone now. Nowadays she isn't into hardcore gaming though. She plays facebook games like farmville, and does game sites like Pogo :(

My parents used to play DK and Zaxxon on the coleco all the time back in the 80's. My Dad would also get into Mario on the NES and SNES but after my sister and I moved out of the house and took the consoles (and the reason for owning a console) he stopped playing. He is 63 now and has already had 2 strokes but he will still play Wii Sports (and kick your butt in bowling :) ) but not very often. The only game I remember my inlaws playing is Mario Kart on the N64, they really enjoyed mulit-player.

My Dad use to played Mrs. PacMan, Silent Service 2, Empire Earth II (PC games), and Super R Type.

Back in the day I use to watch my parents and older siblings play Mrs. Pacman on the Atari. They would always try to see if they can get the highest score. Ahhh what memories. My dad usually plays computer games. He use to play Silent Service 2 (a submarine simulator), and is currently playing Empire Earth II. He basically finds one game on the PC and plays it for years and years! He doesn't play online at all. He would play the newest Empire Earth III, if his computer were compatible. That's also another reason why he plays the same games over and over--the need for a newer computer.

However, I do also remember my Dad playing Super R-Type on SNES. Man...he would play that game forever! That's when he was introduced to sore gamer thumb! I remember him taping tissue to his fingers to act as a cushion before he played...lol. Ah my Pops...gotta love him!

No, my parents are not gamers. My dad liked to play SMB3 when I was little, but even though I was 3 years old, I played better than him. :P Other than that, not sure. I don't think my mother has ever played anything. Both of my parents know most of the Mario and Zelda songs and characters, though.

No my parents have never played games with us, we owned an old fountain system with pac man, astroids, space invaders and such but they would just watch us kids play. My father dosnt even know how to turn on a computer, he wont touch one or even listen to people trying to explain to him how to use technology these days. My Mum is a little better, she goes on facebook but thats all, no games.

My dad rarely plays videogames, but he's always game for a match of Mario Kart 64 and he recently got all 120 stars in SMG 1.
