So it's almost March now and I still don't have a Wii yet. I wanted one at Christmas time but I couldn't get it because of the seriously high demand for the system, so I (like many other people out there) have been trying to find one ever since. Last Monday, after waking up at 6:00 a.m in the morning and driving to my nearest Best Buy only to be disappointed again, I decided I was going to get some of my frustration out by sending this letter to Nintendo:
To: Nintendo From: Max McClain, repeat customer Re: Nintendo Wii system
Dear Sir or Madam:
We have been trying to purchase the Wii system since its launch in November. When we were forced to the realization that there was no way to get the system for Christmas, my son agreed to wait for his present until we could finally find the Wii system, after Christmas. It is now clear that we are not going to be able to get a Wii system from any of your re-sellers at any point in the foreseeable future.
We have repeatedly tried to purchase the Wii at: Best Buy (five locations), Future Shop (four locations), Wal Mart (four locations), Toys R Us (two locations), Electronics Boutique (four locations), and anyone else who advertised the system. We live in Canada and we have driven from Etobicoke to Ajax, and from Toronto to Newmarket, all to no avail.
The reason we are now giving up is two-fold: Firstly, we are tired of being laughed at whenever we ask the re-sellers when, or if, they might get a Wii system in (it is embarrassing to be openly mocked by a $5.00 per hour store clerks). Secondly, the re-sellers have now stopped advertising the Wii system either in their flyers, or in their stores. They have told us there is no use leaving the empty boxes out, as it just results in customers asking when the system may be available. In short, your re-sellers are tired of being asked any questions about your Wii system.
The funniest example we ran into was at an Electronics Boutique in York Region where a hand-made sign on the door said: "WE DON'T HAVE Wii, SO DON'T ASK!"
As a family that enjoyed the Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Advanced, Nintendo 64 and the Nintendo Game Cube, together with all the games and peripherals, we are very disappointed.
We are now going to spend our money on the PS3. Despite the fact it costs significantly more, it will save us time and further disappointment in your company.
Sincerely, Max McClain
I'm not actually going to buy a PS3, I still want a Wii. I do admit that this is probably a little much but I'm really interested to see what Nintendo is going to say back (if anything at all).
