My poor, poor DS...

Godddd, I'm so ticked! My mom took away my DS Lite yestruday, because I got a B- on my math test, and I just got it back. She took it to work with her, carrying it in her big bag. Well, when I opened the bag, I see my DS sitting there at the bottom of the bag, surrounded by several coins, and a key ring with at least 10 keys on it. So I pull my DS out of there in a hurry, and I see that it is completely covered in dust and lint on the fron and back. I run back inot the house, and menacingly start brushing off the dust with my shirt. Once all of the dust came off, I started to calm down....until I shone some light on the DS, and witness the horror. The front lid thing is completely scratched. The scraches and like waves, which I could tell were made by the keys. I shine some morel light, and see that there are small to medium sized scratched all over the place. Then I check the back of the DS, and see that one of the little rubber balls is croockedly placed, and it wouldn't budge. I am SO MAD at my mom right now! I fricken had the thing for roughly 4 days, and it's already in this sort of condition! I had to trade a lot of games + PSP in order to get the thing, and now it's basicly runied! I know that they're just scatches, but I'm really nit picky about these kinds of things. I try to keep my electronics in overall good condition, and the scatches annoy the hack out of me. I was so mad, that I went over to my mom and started yelling at her and how she has no respect for my belongigns, and how she took it away becasue I didn't get an A on a test!

 The good thing is that the scratches are really only visible when you hold the DS at a certain position under the light, but knowing that they're there, and so massive, and the fact that its brand frickin new, bugs the hell out of me. :(

I know it's kinda silly to ask, but do you think Gamestop would let me get another one? I mean, it's only 4 days old, basicly brand new...do you guys think it would work? (My DS Lite is Onyx btw, not white)

I was with you until about here. As unreasonable as your parent's expectations are of you, you don't yell at your parents. It's disrespectful, and makes you look and sound like a spoiled brat. You had it taken for a day? Suck it up, wimp! ;)

As for the return, I doubt it. Unless it's taken serious damage and you've got the warranty, I doubt they'll accept it.

 lol, I didn't literally scream at her, but my voice was pretty loud. But the thing that ticked me off was that she started laughing at me, telling me it's only a game, and gave me a sarcastic "I'm sorry, hun" answer.

Well, if you get D's, then I guess she can take it away if she wants to, no offense though. But I mean c'mon, I got a B- on a MATH test, and thats my worst subjest. You'd think she'd understand, but nooo....

I think that is a little harsh. A B- isn't that bad. And I don't think she did it on purpose.

On topic:  You should have studied for your math test.  If you did then this whole situation would have been avoided.  And if you couldn't have aced the test no matter how hard you tried, then you should have cheated off the smart kid.

As for your DS, you would never get a new one from Gamestop as they always try to cheat people, esp. when they add an extra $5 to some games.

 We'll, in my defense, I did study. It's just that I have always been bad at math (ever since 2nd grade) and it's really hard for me. I'm in Algebra 2 Honors, which I didn't even think I could handle, but surprisibly I can...sort of. I have also never gotten an A on any math test in my life....ever. Quizzes? Sure...but not tests. 

But yea....I'm sorta pissed at her...lol 

Since when was a B- a bad grade? I'm sorry but I think your mom was acting like a real *****.

The only way GameStop will take it back and give you a new one is if you bought the warranty with it. I believe Nintendo themselves give you a month or so of their warranty. I just don't know if the warranty covers exterior damages. You could always call the 1-800 number that Nintendo usually puts on their products.

No one should expect perfection. 

She shouldn't have taken it from you. I'd be pretty annoyed if my ds got scratches on it.

Actually I'd be more than pretty annoyed. I'm rather ocd about that kind of stuff too.

You got a B- and your mom takes away your DS? That sounds just a bit crazy...I mean if you usually get A's a single B- can have a minimal effect on your average. Although, I do agree that you sound a bit spoiled since you traded in a PSP and all your games (which your mom most likely bought for you in the first place) and then yell at her for touching your belongings when technically she bought it.

I think it's ridiculous to have it taken away for a B-.  I almost always got good grades in school, but even if I ever fell short and got something like a C on an assignment, my parents always knew I tried my hardest, and they could never ask for anything more.

It's a bummer, but at least the damage is only cosmetic.  I kept my iPod in pristine condition, and one day I was walking my boyfriend's dog, and she saw a bird and took off so fast that my iPod went flying as she dragged me down the sidewalk.  My iPod got a big gouge in it and was scratched majorly.  Still worked though!  Also on the bright side, I no longer had to worry about the sad day I would finally get a scratch on my lovingly cared for iPod, since it already had several now. :P

Wow, a B-... As far as I'm concerned, that's a great a grade. Especially in Algebra 2 Honors, but whatever. Your mom expects too much, and you really should have a talk with her about that. Btw, how old are you? You seem like you're getting kind of old for your parents to be taking away your belongings...

It's unethical, but you could break your DS. (IE poor water in it while it's running). Then take it back to Gamestop and tell them it doesn't work. They have to give you a new one if it has been under 7 days I think. They may give you a hassel, but they can't prove it worked out of the box.
