Well, a couple of days ago i read a thread about wiis getting really hot when you keep it horizontal on standy connected to wii connect 24. Well... i just felt my wii and it was reeaally hot. I then started playing it at the fan turned on and it cooled down again. I was just wondering if this can damage or effect my wii.
The Wii will get hot either way you set it up. The heat is generated from the built in wi-fi which is always online, unless you completely turn off your console (you'll see a red light on your power button). It shouldn't damage your console at all unless you don't have your console in a very well-ventilated area. Overall the Wii doesn't get nearly as hot as the powerhouse that is the XBox 360 and I imagine the PS3 gets extremely hot too, so I wouldn't worry about it.
