It's the holiday season so we thought it was best to spend it with our own families.

Actually that's not too far off lol

It's broken for it's second time, the thing that irks me most is that it was just in the shop at the beginning of September so less then three months and it's back in.

Nothing too serious, the first time it was a disk read error and this time the bearing in the fan went, the thing was MUCHO loud. It went from mildy annoying to "I have the happiest cat in the back of my Wii with a megaphone".

Just like last time I wanted to point out a few things to let people know how the system works as of right now.

1. Virtual Console games are no big deal if they need to be replaced. Especially if you have a MyNintendo account (if not please go to Nintendo and do it straight away, please click HERE)

2. Everybody Votes content is also recorded. This, as many users know, was the biggest problem last time. My Everybody Votes channel was messed up when I got it back and since it's one of my favorite things to do on the Wii I was ticked. Thankfully the update recently to the channel fixed my last problem and hopefully now that it's recorded there wont be another.

3. Check Mii Out Channel content is recorded. This way if you won or placed in certain contests the information will be kept.

4. Mii's like usual will be kept also.

5. The rest of the channels, weather, news, internet, are also recorded.

Now of course if they need to revamp the entire system you lose everything on the console (unless you backed it up on an SD card) but that's to be expected.

Now for the rest of my story lol

So I told them it was the second time in 3 months and he told me they wanted to see it in Washington. I asked what the difference was from New York, where I sent it last time, and he said the New York location is for repair and distribution only. Washington is where Nintendo actually is so they wanted to pull my Wii apart and see what happened and use the data. I said sure thing if you pay and then send it back overnight, I only want it away for a week max.

He agreed and then I brought up compensation because it's nuts that I had to send it back twice in less then three months. He offered me the choice of a nunchuck (I already own one), a C l a s s i c Controller (got one of those too), or a guide. Well I didn't have a guide so I said throw that puppy this way.

I'll be getting a call from Nintendo next week going over my usage of the console (all the freaking time lol) and all that and then I get it back next week.

Moral of the story, I talk too much lol

I don't think I've ever enjoyed a story about a broken console so much.

Good form.

I'm trying to take your advice and get a MyNintendo account, but when I try to submit on step 2 of the sign-up process, it says my zip code, state, and country combination is invalid... but it's all correct. :?

Well, as sorry as I am for your Wii, this could help the immunity to malfunction for everyone else's Wiis. Also, the fact that you get COMPENSATION is AWESOME! Nintendo Customer Service ftw.

Hmmm, Nintendo just switched to a new website design this week and there could be a glitch somewhere in the registration process. I think what you should do is call them up on the phone and explain what you're trying to do and what they can do to make sure it goes through.

The number is in my sig.

The guide that I'm getting is a game guide. I decided on Super Paper Mario, not that I need the guide for the game but it's nice on the book shelf lol They had Pokemon Battle Revolution and one other guide and I thought that Mario was the best out of the bunch.

This is why I'm buying an SD card soon. That way, much of my saved data will remain in that card if my Wii goes funky. So far, I haven't seen anything unusual with it.

OK now this is serious. To me, Nintendo has lost it's reputaion of making good quality consoles... My Wii broke twice as well. My first Wii had read disk errors, they gave me a new one, the second one over heated (and I never left it on wiiconnect24 for more than two days in a row) and they gave me a new one again. My third one is going strong...even though it reads disks a bit loud (those meep meep noises are louder than ever) and it froze 2 time in the Wii menu. If something goes wrong with this one then that means that Nintendo is doing something very wrong.

Oh yeah and Miis do change when you get your a fixed/replaced console. All of them have blue pants which means you can't edit them or post your classic creations in the Check Mii Out channel.

Hey there guys... Well, i've never posted anything here so, Hi! I've been reading a lot of these boards in the last couple months actually, but never had something that I really tought would be worth posting... So by reading Jaysonguy's post I once again got upon a lil' problem I have.... Well, the thing is that I live in Brazil and the mynintendo thingy doesn't apply here! I've tried a couple of times already but it clearly says it doesn't cover my area (:().. So I was wondering what the heck of insurance could I have for my Virtual Console/channels data etc? I mean, I have a lot of VC games already and my wii despite of never really breaking have already had some malfunctions like stop working all of sudden... So guys, is there anything I could do? Thanks a lot!

Fantastic question.

I've called and Emailed various departments at Nintendo almost once a month trying to get an answer and it's the same thing. "We cannot say blah blah balh"

BUT I do have a few hunches.

1. Everyone in the main customer support department from the service associates to the managers to the supervisors all say the same thing. Considering the number of Virtual Console games out there now there would be such a backlash that they couldn't handle it all.

2. 33 million dollars breaks down to a huge number of users. There's no way they'd tick off that many people when they release a new console because it would slow the adoption rate.

3. The Virtual Console is a cash cow with almost no overhead. I can't see Nintendo screwing that up by making everyone pay again because no one would download the games anymore.

these are small isolated problems so I don't think it will even damper they're reputation of well-built products, on top of that N has one of the best Customer service I've ever had (unfortunate) to deal with

Just to be on the safe side in case mine break what's the exact process you had to go through to recover VC games? I've got over $100 worth of VC titles and don't want to lose them if I ever have to send it in.

If you have a MyNintedo account they just switch the serial number tied to the games and you redownload them all.

If not you have to send them the broken one and they'll read the games you have then do the rest above.

They've really streamlined it since the launch of the Wii.
