my Wii has overheated, i noticed when i was playing SSX Blur, i saw a bunch of black flashing pixels, and sometimes white pixels on the screen.

now i need to call nintendo about it though, and hopefully i can get a replacement wii(ive heard good things about the nintendo customer service, so im confident).

however i was wondering, what are my options, for those who have gone through getting a replacement?

It depends if you use the replacement plan. You lose all vc, game saves but they send out a new wii to you while you ship the broken wii to them.

The credit card info is also a security measure. If you did the replacement option as noted above and the old wii was never recieved by them they just charge your credit card. They tell you this.

Certain people have also probably claimed to have a defective wii to get one since the stores don't have them.

Keep your game console out of the sun's harmfall rays and make sure you got some fan blowing in the room to lower the temp. Also don't smoke or have a lot of dust in the room that clogs up the fan and if you opened up an electronic device from a smoker's place you would be shocked at the gunk on everything. It's like a sludge that is real sticky. Now imagine said sludge in the lungs of smokers.

I think they will fix your wii no matter what when you send it in.  If it is found to be not covered by the warrenty then your CC will get chared (i think)

Wow, that's an unusual problem for Wii, considering it doesn't use much power and is a relatively quiet console.

"Now imagine said sludge in the lungs of smokers."

but you get such sludge into the fan-parts even if you dont smoke, its dust, dryed and heated together

btw. the lung is a living organ so any "sludge" will be cleaned and worked up through the skin... up to a certain amount, of course :D

I have a Canadian launch day Wii, and it's not given me a single issue. I've played it over 8 hours straight more than a few times with zero side effects. I'm always sure to turn off WiiConnect24 though while playing long sessions. Not like it's used much anyways.

Nope taking apart plenty of electronics. The ones with dust were easy to clean often a lot of electronics from nonsmoking places didn't have any sludge in them. Smokers on the other hand ugh!!! It's tar sludge.

No most wiis don't overheat. If it does it's due to the enviroment the wii is in or a defect in the manufactoring.

Any game console including NESs would overheat if in a dusty room or in a room that was a certain temputure unless fans were blowing in the room. Or if the console was in the sunlight from windows.

I'm still not afraid of my Wii overheating. It seems to be such a rare problem.

Basically, you need to knock it over first...
