Hold the power button until the red light turns on. That means everything is off...except for that red light.

Wait a minute... is it ok to leave it on standby? Because I always leave it that way.

Yeah its fine. An update made the wii's internal fan blow even on standby to cut down the chance of over heating.

That blue light is fascinating to watch!! But it's really bright at night after you turn off the lights! You have to go into the Wii settings and set it so it will power down instead of going into standby if you don't want the blue light.

Wow... I should update my WII. I haven't played the system in a while. But yea the blue light is so cool. I could sit back on my couch get some popcorn and soda, sit back, relax and watch that blue light go on and on.

The yellow light isn't a big deal, it's usually always on when you aren't using your Wii.

Strictly speaking, both the red and yellow lights indicate "standby mode". The difference is that when it glows yelow, that means WC24 is running.

Anyway, it's okay to leave the thing in standby. Heck, that's what you already do with most of your electronics.
