I have had my Wii for about 3 weeks now and I have tried so many things. I tried searching on google on "WEP key" but I didn't really find anything helpfull. I also checked a guide for "Wii channels" at Gamefaqs but I didn't find anything there but I didn't expect to find anything. I checked the manual for my Wireless router and I found this website that I was supposed to go to to see and/or change my settings but I couldn't connect to the site. I don't know why but it could be because I have 2 routers. I finally got desperate enough to come ask here (especially now that I know that mario strikers is released in Europe this month!!!).

So does anyone know how to find the WEP key? I use my router for my DS so I know that it works it's just that I wasnt the one who wrote down the information on my DS and I don't have it written down anywhere. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, my router is a D-Link DL-524. Thanks in advance.

You need to logon to the routers settings to find this. it should say how to do this in your routers instructions. You should have to type an i.p. address into a browser and enter the username and password, instructions should say what the i.p. and user/pass is.

Somewhere in the settings it should tell you your WEP key.

I just checked the bottom. There were many numbers there one set of numbers labeled P/N and another S/N. There is also an FCC ID and a MAC ID. Is it one of those?? What kind of information do you need about my router?

Does anyone know if it's possible to see the WEP key on the DS? The DS shows the key in stars (*) like all other passwords, codes and keys :(

I found the WEP key now. Thanks guys. The only problem is that the wireless connection doesn't seem to reach that far.  My Wii is right under the router and the only thing between them is the table that the router is on. The strange thing is that I can actually sit quiet far away from my router with my DS with a wall between the router and the DS. I heard something about that the Wiis Wifi is primitive and that you need to change something to 11 for it to work. Could this be my new problem??

Yes, it could be, you need to change the channel to 1 or 11. log onto the router how i described above and you should be able to change it there.

  • Start -> Run -> Type 'cmd'
  • In the dos prompt type 'ipconfig'
  • One of the fields will be 'Default Gateway' with an ip address next to it. Something like 192.168.0.1
  • Open a web browser and type the ip address in. This will take you to your router page.
  • Poke around and look for the WEP key.
If you get stuck, look up your router manual for how to restore the router back to factory settings. This will strip the passwords off the router. side note: try and change your encryption type to WPA rather than WEP.
Good luck.
