Gamecube games will work on the Wii. You need a Gamecube memory card and controllers though.

I don't think it has a year warranty and it can play GC games if you have a Gamecube memory card or a gamecube controller.

the wii has 4 gc plugs and 2 memory card slots on it, so you dont need anything extra to play gc games. it also has the VC and wiiware. i think theres a warranty, but i doubt youll need it. the wii is the most reliable system this gen.

all you need to play Gamecube games on a wii is:

1. A Nintendo Wii (of chourse)
2. A Gamecube game (of chourse)
3. A Gamecube controller

And a Gamecube Memory card if you want to safe the game :)

And the Nintendo Wii Controllers don't work for playing Gamecube

Normally it's a Nintendo Wii

But when you play a Gamecube game ... then it's a gamecube :)

AND! Good luck with the Birthday :D

The Wii comes with a 2-3months warranty and registering it online at Nintendo's official website extends it by 90 days.

It's not much compared to GameCube's 4 year warranty though.

[EDIT]...compared to GameCube's 1 year warranty. My finger slipped.
