yeah i had to shell out 25 for like the 1k+ memory card and i never played a single GC i own since the wii came out :X im going to start WW again tomorrow though and get some use out of that giant card

probably figured that most ppl who plan to play GC games already had a GC, games, and a memory card. I had a GC, controllers, games, and memory cards, but I don't know where any of it is. I'm going to my parent's storage either tomorrow or friday and hopefully I'll find some controllers, games, and a memory card in there. altho I have a feeling I'll find controllers, games, but no memory card and I'll have to go buy one :(.

Probably to save memory for Wii related things, cheaper to use existing hardware, and no need to have to create a driver to redirect game saves and praying that a bug occurs because there is no way to test every game save mechanism.
It's a hardware issue not a software issue. The Wii basically turns into a Gamecube when you play the Gamecube games, the only way you can stop it is a hard restart. This is the same reason the Wiimote/C l a s s i c controller wont work when you play a Gamecube game.
If you wanted the Gamecube game to be played on the Wii itself I doubt the hardware would be strong enough to do it.
