I have had my Wii for 3 weeks now, bought Wario Smooth Moves and Zelda, but now am worried that I have made the wrong decision buying a Wii, as it seems I have bought the only two games that are rated as being any good, everything else seems to be below average. The future looks kind of bleak too with no titles really to reassure me apart from Resident Evil and Metroid Prime, which both look kinda kewl.

Someone please reassure me!!

Don't get me wrong i love the intuitive controls and that, i think there is so much potential there

Out of the ones you listed three of them are Mario games and are likely to be similar, i mentioned Metroid and Fire Emblem doesn't seem like my kinda thing.

Uh, Galaxy is a platformer, Strikers is a soccer game, and Brawl is a fighter (and also not a Mario game in the purest sense).

no more heroes, soul cailber game(hopefully its ninja gaiden-esque), Disaster Day of Crysis, Project Hammer all look pretty good to me. just give it time. you have to realize that a lot of developers werent expecting the Wii to do so well this earlier, so the development of a lot of games have started late.

um, you know average is about a 7 rating right? anyways you should deffinateley buy Super Paper Mario. its very good and fun. and like you said resident evil 4 will be vey good hopefully, also. mario strikers charged in july, metroid prime3 in august, battalion wars 2 in september. later in the year if you are into rpg's there is fire emblem, final fantasy crystal chronicles, and dragon quest swords. if u like sports than fifa 08, madden 08 (august), and nba live 08. (all with fun innovative controls) also there is a new need for speed coming out and lego star wars if u like racing or star wars. also Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles will most likely appeal to u since u like RE. And u have to get Super Mario Galaxy and of course Super Smas Bros. Brawl. you'll be missin out on some very good games if u sell your wii. but if barely any of those games appeal to you then maybe you just arent meant to have a wii.

When you put it like that, it does not sound so bad :)

It's like the Wii has it place, something to play with your friends and family after the BBQ, etc. Whereas if you want something realistic, story driven and to get your teeth into, to play hours on end, etc then get a PS3 or 360

Similar? The only thing they have in common is that they have the character of Mario. Gameplay mechanics are entirely different.

And how about The Godfather, Scarface, Super Paper Mario (which is a action RPG... once again, different game mechanics), Manhunt 2, etc?

Its a great consol for a great price. I for one love the VC. Its awsome to play all your old favorites. if all you have is Wario and Zelda, think about getting Super paper Mario or even RE4 for now.

I hat how people think the Wii is a flop because a bunch of movie-based games and crappy cash-ins got bad scores on GameSpot.

I also dislike people who won't try a game if it's review isn't good enough.

If you actually judge games based on gamespot's reviews, shame on you. I just visit gamespot for info about the game and make my own judgements. EX: pirates of the carribean got a terrible review for wii, howver it's one fo the funnest games for me, it's like return of the king game which everyone thought was awsome. THINK FOR YOURSELF!

I was going to tell you that if you had to ask, just wait 4-5 months and you'll have pretty much every reason in the world to get one. But since you already have one, you should probably pull a cow behavior and just wait.

you know gamespot isn't god and determines a games greatness. anyway other games I liked

Mortal Kombat, Call of Duty 3 (they better put 4 on the wii :x), Excite Truck, Godfather, Prince of Persia, and there are a few others that I heard good things about but never played.

coming out

RE4 (they BETTER put 5 on the Wii or I WILL kill them :x), MP3, SMG, SSBB, etc.

have faith in the wii ._.

ive been itching to get a new console but not sure which one to get.I dont want a ps3 because its to expensive and not enough games out to be worth paying that much.the 360 is the system im looking at but since its made by microsoft many games are also on pc.dont get me wrong the pc has good games but the problems make me wish I had a console sometimes.

the wii has no overheating issues does it?ive never heard of anyone sending one back because it was flashing red lights or it scratched their disks.the wii is the only one that isnt that pricey but they dont have many games still.so would you buy the wii over a 360?how does the wii look on a widescreen lcd tv thats the only thing I have to connect it.

Honest answer: there's no reason for a gamer to get a Wii over a 360 at this point in time. In 6 months, getting a Wii over a 360 is something every gamer should seriously consider.

Wii has minor overheating issues when you leave the Standby mode (the yellow light is on and the Wii can recieve data from the internet) on for a few days. Nothing too serious though, in most cases anyway.

Wii on a widescreen 16:9 LCD HDTV? Not very good. Not only does the Wii not have true widescreen (it just stretches the screen out; you even have to set your TV to widescreen, rather than it automatically going wide like on the 360), you'll have to get Component Cables to get 480P, which still doesn't look too good when compared to HD. How big is your TV?

i have not really got money to burn on games anymore and therefore need to rely on reviews, etc to an extent as I can't afford to just buy and try, especailly as there are not many second hand games available yet.

Like i said early, it has it's place i think and i dont regret buying it, i expect i'll end up getting one of the other consoles at some point too though (probably next year or something)

I hate these kinds of threads. People can't still see the success of Wii and the games are coming.

Here's what I'm looking:
Metroid Prime 3
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Zack & Wiki
Opoona
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers
NiGHTS
Secrets Files: Tunguska
Project O
Soul Calibur Legends
Dewy's Adventure

I need more infos for Project HAMMER and Disaster: Day of Crisis.

Maybe you could go with Manhunt 2 or Scarface or RE: Umbrella Chronicles. By the way, I'm not interested on these 3.

For what I'm looking I'm good for 1 year. Also, E3 is coming in less than 4 weeks.

I just bought Skies of Arcadia: Legends even if I still have my GameCube.Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite RPG ever made. I'll play with it as soon as I beat Super Paper Mario. If you plan to buy GameCube games, buy the GameCube controller and the GameCube memory card.

I'll go with Super Smash Bros Melee, Tales of Symphonia, Zelda: Wind Waker as a start foryour GameCube library.

To that GCN list, I suggest Fire Emblem 9, Super Smash Brothers Melee (to prep yourself for Brawl), Wave Race: Blue Storm, MGS1, and the two Metroid Prime games.

Since you already have a Wii, I recommend trying DBZ: BT2, NFS: Carbon, Far Cry: Vengeance, Madden 07, Super Paper Mario, and Twilight Princess. If you don't have the money to try these games, I seriously advise you against buying a whole separate system.

That's a common misconception. The Wii already has some great story-driven games that you can really get into, and there are even more upcoming titles that are sure to provide the same fun.

Like what games? Zelda had a decent story, but it surely wasn't story driven. I can't think of any other story-driven games for the Wii out in the US right now. For what's to come, the only games I see as story-driven at all would be Fire Emblem 10 and the possible Tales game. However, I'd also like to say that there aren't all that many 360 games that have decent stories. There's Enchanted Arms, which is engaging in that sense, Kameo to some extent, Marvel Ultimate Alliance sort of, and that's about it. The PS3 has nothing with a story worth following at the moment, except for Resistance.

Dude stop trying to talk him out of getting another system next year....

I'm going to be unbiased and say you should also consider getting another system next year so you will have a variety of games to fit your needs.

The only reason why people on here say that you should just stick with the Wii is because that's the only system they can afford at the moment, but I say if you have the money next year you should buy a secondary system in all honest truth.

Haha I'm not trying him to talk out of another system itself. If all three systems suit him, it's nobody's place to try to stop him. I'm simply trying to provide answers for his problems. He said he didn't have the money to spend on games that haven't been reviewed, I simply stated that he shouldn't be looking into a system if he can't afford any games. And by the time he can afford the system, he would have the money to buy the games he wanted to get but couldn't afford. Simple as that ;)

I don't need another system. I don't like a great deal of shooters, and that's what the 360 is known for. I think Halo 3 is the only game I would buy for the 360, as I already have Oblivion on the PC. The PS3 looks slightly more diversified, but the $600 price tag isn't justified by the only two games I'm currently interested in (FF13 and MGS4).

And before you assume I don't have the money, maybe I should tell you I can afford a PS3 and 360 on one week's pay. But just because I can afford something, it doesn't mean I should go out and blow my money on it. I'd rather take my girlfriend to a couple of ball games than waste the $300 on a system that I wouldn't play that much.

This message was also brought to you by an unbiased opinion. But it's also brought to you by a guy that knows what he wants and won't waste his money on something that doesn't suit him.

[QUOTE="FFXIsAstyanax"]If you don't have the money to try these games, I seriously advise you against buying a whole separate system.

I did say next year (which would give me 6 months to save up my hard earned cash) ;-)

Well in those 6 months, you'll have plenty of great new Wii games on which you can spend your hard-earned money.

Dude stop trying to talk him out of getting another system next year....

I'm going to be unbiased and say you should also consider getting another system next year so you will have a variety of games to fit your needs.

The only reason why people on here say that you should just stick with the Wii is because that's the only system they can afford at this moment, but I say if you have the money next year you should by a secondary system in all honest truth.

PS. This message was brought to you by a person who isn't blinded by fanboyism, have a nice day.

dude, the fact that you only brought the price up is simple proof of your fanboyish act.
if anything, they have an opinion apposed to yours, so don't be calling them names and act like you know it all.

No seriously! Another system isn't going to make you any happier. They are all clamouring for exclusives now too. A new system will run at least 350. That's 7 games!

The wii has a at least 200 titles released or with release dates. Anyone who complains of no games is obviously just looking at wal-mart. This doesn't include the 100's of cube games that are compatible and CHEAP!

I have a decent amount of money and almost no expenses. I could have any of the system I had wanted. The one I wanted was the Wii! Great titles, a truely new way to play, backwards compatability up the wazoo, online integration, a stable system (with a damn good warranty), and a company that really is dedicated to video games first and foremost!

Forget the chumps that say you need two systems to suit all your needs! Forget the idiots that say there are only kiddie games on the Wii. Forget the mediaphiles that think that an hour of theater quality cut scenes make a GAME any more fun to PLAY!

Sit back and enjoy the Wii for what it is. In the end you'll be happy you did.

Whereas if you want something realistic, story driven and to get your teeth into, to play hours on end, etc then get a PS3 or 360

PandaSamurai

The PS3 has nothing with a story worth following at the moment, except for Resistance.

kameo "to some extent"?
marvel ultimate alliance "sort of" (this game is available on all systems BTW)?
for Wii, stroy driven titles are: 1. twilight princess, 2. trauma center, 3. the godfather (multiplat as well)
there aren't many as you said, but it's no less than what the others offer.

Super Paper Mario and Trauma Centre are both story driven games even though one is more based on comic elements and parody. Even Godfather has a pretty good story with story elements from the movie integrated seamlessly with new story elements created for the game.

THINK FOR YOURSELF!rooster1237

I totally agree!! How can gamespot have any credibility left when they gave a skateboarding game 10/10 and zelda TP 8.8??? Tha, to me, made me lose all faith in their reviews.

Yes, the wii is really 'THAT good. Basically the kind of experience you can have on wii with warioware or wii sports is impossible to get on any other system period.

Then you have gems like zelda and all the upcoming big games. And yes 8.8 was a joke gamespot will never recover from. We say 8.8,they say 9.5, you say 9.5....

there.

[QUOTE="KandyKornMan"]

ive been itching to get a new console but not sure which one to get.I dont want a ps3 because its to expensive and not enough games out to be worth paying that much.the 360 is the system im looking at but since its made by microsoft many games are also on pc.dont get me wrong the pc has good games but the problems make me wish I had a console sometimes.

the wii has no overheating issues does it?ive never heard of anyone sending one back because it was flashing red lights or it scratched their disks.the wii is the only one that isnt that pricey but they dont have many games still.so would you buy the wii over a 360?how does the wii look on a widescreen lcd tv thats the only thing I have to connect it.

Hyper_Shado

Wii has minor overheating issues when you leave the Standby mode (the yellow light is on and the Wii can recieve data from the internet) on for a few days. Nothing too serious though, in most cases anyway.

Wii on a widescreen 16:9 LCD HDTV? Not very good. Not only does the Wii not have true widescreen (it just stretches the screen out; you even have to set your TV to widescreen, rather than it automatically going wide like on the 360), you'll have to get Component Cables to get 480P, which still doesn't look too good when compared to HD. How big is your TV?

its a 32" samsung I got from circuit city.I know it wont look that great on it but cable right now is only in 480i on my tv.of course im getting the component cables at least so itll look decent.my tv has a option to change the aspect from 16:9 to 4:3.but not sure if thatll make much difference.the whole point is to avoid spending to much for a console.if I want graphics ive got my pc.

Get Sonic or Trauma Center.
