So I just got some money for my birthday and was wondering what I should get. It will either be a gopro HD hero 2, a nook tablet or the 3DS. Since this is the 3DS forum we will just talk about that. I usually like the other company's handheld better and was going to get that but then I realised I really like Nintendo games. Looking at Super Mario Land 3D makes me really want the system. And then Luigi's Mansion and Mario Kart and others. But what I was wondering do you think it is worth it to get now? Do you think there might be another price cut or even new model, since I know Nintendo loves doing that. What I am really asking is this a good time to buy the system? thanks

Well, if it makes it easier, Toys R Us here in Canada has the 3DS for $130 this Friday. Don't know if it also applies to the US as well or if there's a similar deal. Not a bad buy at that price...basically half of what I paid for mine only a few months ago (that was not worth it).

um...do you play handhelds often or even more than consoles? if so get the 3ds and it even plays all ds games and gameboy games on virtual console..

actually your asking if this is a good time to buy? the only reason not to is if your waiting on a specific color/special edition....otherwise buy..

it will be years before a redesign comes out..

Im my opinion, I don't think there'll be another price cut, given they already slashed the price dramatically recently, and they're selling at a loss now. I think this most people will agree with.

With a redesign, well some people would argue there will be one, but again, in my opinion I don't think there will be. Nintendo have mentioned that they don't want to do a redesign because it's already crammed with goodness as is. People that think there will be a design argue that it can be redesigned with the battery life in mind, and a second analog built in. I think the battery life is fine, and the second analog attachment will do the trick (not all games need it, and games that do need it are generally "play at home" games anyway, thus they don't need to redesign it so that the system is smaller with the attachment).

Price cut wont happen for a while. Redesign will probably happen, but again not for a while, at least spring time.

I agree that the price cut won't happen any time soon, but they may come out with a new model. I'd just go ahead and buy it, because the new models are just gimmicks to get you to spend more money. It's like all the ones for the regular DS, they all play the same games, it's just some have different features than others.

I don''t think a true redesigh a'la the 3dsi but maybe a 3dsxl if you want a bigger screen and I don't think there will be aprice drop until well into its lifetime.
