Need some help on my 100% completion of Metroid: OM

Warning for spoilers!!

I'm trying to get 100%, and I've got everything, except 2 upgrades. I can't get to these upgrades, since my path is blocked by a nonfunctional elevator and door. I got to the (really, spoiler!) big space squid thingy, and then the alarm went off, so I shut the game off, hoping to be able to get these last 2 upgrades before I finish the game completely, but that seems impossible. Do I have to beat the squid and take these upgrades with Zero Suit Samus, or have I simply missed something really hard to find?

If it's possible to give me a spoiler, even though I'm this close to finish the game, I would appreciate it if you kept it spoiler free.

We can't help you if you don't tell us where they are located. There is one item that you can only get after you beat "the big squid thingy" as you put it.

Oops, my bad. The 2 upgrades are very close to eachother, close to a nonfunctional elevator. One of the upgrades is in the same room as the nonfunctional elevator, 2 rooms south of the main elevator room, and one is 3 rooms to the south of the main elevator room.Litchie

And the last one is one floor above the room with the non-functioning elevator. Ignore this one for now since you can only reach it after beating the extra boss.

I hope this helps you since it is kind of difficult to tell which room you mean without some sort of referance (say an object in the area).

I'm really beginning to think both of these are impossible to take before the boss. You sure only 1 is impossible before the squid?Litchie

Now I understand what you're missing. The room you were in from the pic can only be gotten after you beat the extra boss and the last one is up a vent blocked by a barrier. Destroy the barrier and wall jump up to get the item (this one is another you can only get after beating the extra boss if you missed it the first time around near the beginning of the game).

Really? I never knew that and I don't remember seeing that room until after I beat the game. Next playthrough, I'll make a note of it if one can get that item before the extra boss.
