NES and Game Boy Advance Games Coming to eShop

NES and Game Boy Advance games are coming to the eShop's Virtual Console games, but there's a twist.

"Since Nintendo 3DS launched in the United States on March 27, more than 830,000 people in the U.S. alone have purchased one to enjoy 3D visuals without the need for special glasses. These Nintendo 3DS owners represent some of Nintendo's most loyal customers, and Nintendo is rewarding them for getting in on the action early with 20 free downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop.

These free games are available to anyone who owns a Nintendo 3DS system and uses a wireless broadband Internet signal to connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 11. These users will automatically be registered in the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program."

And so, if you register a 3DS before August 11 and are an early 3DS owner, you will become a Nintendo Ambassador and get to choose from these NES and GBA games for free.

NES: Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, IceClimbers, Donkey Kong Jr, and Balloon Fighter

GBA: Yoshi's Island, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, and Warioware Inc. Mega Microgame$

The NES games will be available on September 1, while the GBA games will be released later. If you buy a 3DS and connect to the eShop after August 11, then you will not be able to get these games. The games listed above are ten, but there will be twenty games in total. The other ten haven't been revealed yet.

I hope they announce Super Mario Advance 4 as one of the remaining 5 games. Actually having all the Super Mario Advance games would be pretty cool. :D

No Yoshi Island is good enough.:P I rather see Mario and Luigi but we already got three Mario games so it would be nice seeing other series and variety getting in.

Im happy I bought my 3DS at launch.

So now I guess we cant expect another price drop for the 3DS at next years E3 :P

This is great news for everyone. People who wanted a price drop got one and people who bought it early (like myself) got a cool bonus. I'm so glad I didn't bought metroid fusion used on gamestop.

I hope the nes games are all 3d classics if not I don't really see the point.

Portable vc games should be on portables and console vc games should be on home consoles so they can be enjoyed in the format they were created for unless their adding something special like 3d which it would make more sense to have it for the 3ds.

Plus if they are gonna start releasing nes vc games for the 3ds you better be able to download them for free if you already purchased them on the wii. You should only have to buy these games once to play them on all supported vc platforms, pretty sure thats how psone classics work for the ps3 and psp.

They need to make the vc a centralized service where you have one account with all your purchases and your able to access them and play them from any platform that supports it, wii, 3ds, wii u ect.

Also if their gonna start having nes games on the 3ds than why not gameboy vc games on the wii/wiiu? I'd love to play some of those games I purchased on the 3ds vc on a big screen, always was a fan of the game boy players for the gc and snes!

Thats just my two cents though, really am a fan of the 3d classics line though and I hope they keep this policy for nes and snes games released on the 3ds :)

Well they should at least give us a notification that we have been registered.

Also, I think that these games will be VC games so no 3D effect, but they talked about updated versions which will have 3D I hope.

well actually classic nes games series on the gameboy advance were 20 dollars each so we are getting a good deal..even if they are not 3d
