On Nintnedo's official Brawl site under Luca's special moves it says "There's a character named Ness who has appeared in the Smash Bros. series up until now, and Lucas is very similar. They are from the same family of PK users." This is going to suck for many Ness players, this is the first fault Nintnedo has made in making the game. Maybe more veteran chacraters may be erased!
They probably just wanted a new face for the game. They are basically a clone for each other and to make the game seem different that the other two, they probably just got "a new character" even though he is not.

I really think Ness will be back... I don't think they are ever going to announce him on the Dojo, because he has always been an unlockable character since the first game. They are not going to announce Ness, Jigglypuff, Captain Falcon or Luigi. They will just be in the game as some of the first unlockable characters.

i kno that most people wont care, i never used him plus lucas is almost the same and i heard (dont ask for a link this was a long time ago) that lucas was supposed to replace ness in ssbm , not sure about that last part though

yeah I remember hearing that , and if this is true then it been nice playing with ness.
It wouldn't feel good if they replaced Peach with Daisy(No evidence of appearing in SSB just an example) though. They are similar but still different characters. How would you feel if your character got replaced?

Didnt really think about that. There are still lots of chances of characters. They might even not announce any new characters anymore. Or maybe 1.
It makes me wonder, will all the already announced characters be the ones you will play with from the beginning...?
I would have rather had them both with different moves. I don't want to feel as though they're clones, though, so if he has to go oh well. I never used him that much.
I am a EarthBound fan, and Ness is by far one of the best Characters on the Smash Brothers game. A lot of ppl hate him cause they dont know how to use him. The problem is that Lucas never came to the states and I know nothing about him and Ness is the only connection of the series that the US has and to remove him would be something that would disappoint me about Nintendo. It would nice for them to keep Ness but give him a new moveset.
I'm just thinking there were 25 characters in Melee, there's no reason to not think there won't be 30-35+ in Brawl. And I'd like to think Ness would be there, and get rid of others (looking at Young Link, Mewtwo, Pichu, maybe 1-2 more).

mewtwo is not a clone and would like to have him back in brawl.
