New DS, what to watch for in system

So I was walking through Wal-Mart today and was going to check if they had two games for the DS I've been trying to find. Without, expecting it, or really even planning to look, there was a cobalt DS just sitting by its lonesome in the case. :o So, I bought it.

It has been 2 years, I think, since I bought my first DS Lite (and I wasn't as with the gaming industry and I am now, which isn't much better, but anyway)

So anyhow, I'm wondering what I need to check for. What I know of is:

1: Yellowing of screen. Which can be checked on the intial screen when it is turned on.

2: Mis-alligned screen. I'm not 100% sure on this, I think it has something to do with seeing light around the edges of screen. But I see that on mine now, so I'm not sure how obvious it should be to actually be a problem.

That is all I know of.

Also, if anyone knows, is the glossy cover on the cobalt on both the top and bottom screen and the matte finish just on the inside. I thought I read somewhere that it was only glossy on the top cover, but matte everywhere else.

I haven't heard of the cobalt black DS's screen becoming yellow...that's something that rarely happens to DSs. I have heard of the white DS's buttons turning yellow over a long period of time. I've never heard of a mis-aligned screen either.

There shouldn't be any problems with a brand new DS, I wouldn't worry about it...

Thanks for your reply, that is definitely good to hear. I've been so busy I've not even had a chance to open my new DS. I'm going to get to it tomorrow. I'm pretty excited to see the color, since I've not got to see it in person yet.

I've noticed my white DS is starting to look less than perfect. I don't even play it that much, so I can only imagine how bad it looks if it gets played a lot. But I've noticed some discoloration on the L and R buttons and things like that.

i just got my cobalt ds a week ago havent had any problems at all.

I have a DS, white one, that is almost two years old. Never been dropped, was put in a case and given a screen protector the day I took it out of the box. Most of the time I play it at home, etc. so it wasn't not mis-handled in anyway. A few weeks ago I found a crack in the hinge of the screen. It is a small crack, and based on the way it looks, it couldn't even have happened from being dropped, so it kind of a myster how it got there.

I ordered my first cobalt/black from gamestop.com and had it shipped, the bottom screen was misaligned with the case, you could easily make out the back light peeking through on the edge, i exhcnaged for another cobalt and this one is perfect, if the screen is yellowish i don't notice it. So nothing to worry about, I think mine was damaged in shipping since it was a box in a box with no bubble wrap or anything.

I finally got a chance to open my DS today. I really, really like the color. Deep enough that it doesn't look like a toy, but not so deep that you can't tell it is blue. I really like the color.

My only disklikes are: the blue really shows dust and things, just in the time I had it out to charge, it looked like it had been sitting out for a week, obviously I guess because of the color, but not something I thought of. I also don't like that the glossy cover doesn't go around the entire DS. This seems like it will scratch a lot easier, and really show the scratches, and also be hard to clean. I also find the texture to be a little odd, maybe that is just me though.

I didn't notice any yellowing of the screen. I can see a little bit of the backlight on the left side of the screen, nothing too bad though. It looks like my white DS, so I'm going to assume this is normal. I don't know how badly it would show if it is mis-aligned.
