I wanted this game since the moment I saw the similarity with odin (now I know that is the same developers   ) but after this hands-on

Points to take in short...

1. Great art.

2. 2 different characters each with different lvl design and bosses (thus overlap is present) and each with it owns storyline.

3. A LOT of weapons to find and make.

4. Nice controllers.

5. FUN gameplay for 12-15hours....

and also it kept teh JP voice :D yea, that is not getting old for me :D

here the link to the hands-on

hope is news to someone... enjoy....

Yeah because every game these days is 100 hour marathons, I'm sure when Star Fox comes out it wont be :P. Anyway yeah this game sounds great and I happy to hear that the dual campaign is being handled better than Capcom did with DMC4, which was just a annoying retread. Also toss in the fact that higher difficulty levels means new bosses and new AI routunes instead of just longer life bars. This could be the premiere hack and slash title this gen.

Star Fox only feels short becuase it's an arcade style game. Not only that, there are branching missions in two that I can think of (Star Fox 64/Lylat Wars and Command). Muramasa is a side scroller and for a game like that, it is short.

Its actually quite the opposite, a side scroller should be short because exploration(in general) isn't a big part of them. And since side scollers are limited in what they do, you cant drag it on for 25 hours. Anyway like it was stated above, it's 12 hours for each campaign, and the are both apparently very unique to minor overlap. Also nothing is more arcadey feeling than a side scrolling beat em up, so if thats an excuse for Star Fox its an excuse for this as well. Anyway 12 hours isn't short, unless you been in deep hiberantion or you haven't played a game since 1998, you should be aware that most games these days are lucky to even make double figures. If a game that was 12 hours is too short for you, you must play like 2 game a year.

Wait, each campaign? Well, I guess the length is reasonable, but that dosen't help the fact that the game might suck.

Completely wrong.

Metroid games can be finished within 4 hours, even if it's your first walkthrough. Traditional Mario/Wario/Yoshi 2D platformers were not longer than 5-8 hours, as long as you didn't go for the bonus items and secrets ( there's also a lot in Muramasa, so ... ).

Also, that's pretty much the length of most 3D game nowadays too, if not even longer than the average game.

Reasonable, right. Well it has no more chance of being bad then any other game, there's a chance the next Zelda can suck, there's a chance the next God of War can suck, there a chance the next Splinter Cell can suck, theres a chance the next Star Fox can suck. You've seen the game, if you haven't thier are a bunch of videos on here and IGN and you can tell whether or not the game sucks.

Sonic Advance on the GBA and that has four characters.

Sonic Advance has ~13 levels and you can beat each in less than 10 minutes, LOL.

If you seriously need 20 hours for Sonic Advance, you won't beat Muramasa under 30 hours either

ImSwordMan

same here, and 15 hours for a sidescroller is huge when you consider how straight forward they usually are. So i am very happy to hear that it has length as well as a good amount of depth with the weapon creation among other things, but even if it didn't id still love it for the artstyle and the sheer fun factor.

sorry for double posting.... but is 12h each character for what I understand from IGN article... right? (sorry english is not my 1st language, so feel free to confirmed or no... :) ) I quoted:
There are 108 blades in all, balanced between the two different characters, so going through THE DOZEN PLUS HOURS TO COMPLETE ONE CAMPAIGN will only grant you half the game's total weapon count. If you want the full experience, you're going to want to play this one through with both Kisuke and Momohime.
(sorry for caps, for some reason I can not use BOLD in quick reply anymore :(

dont forget that you not only have to play with both characters, but you'll need to play with both of them on hard dificulty to get 100%, and hard's only unlocked after you beat the game, according to gamespot. that means you'll have to beat the game 3-4 times at least (3 in case you unlock "hard" for both characters and 4 in case you unlock just for one). and it doesnt look like it'll be annoying.

For all those asking, in the last IGN article it said that its take 12 hours to get through one campaign. And thats probably just blowing through and not taking the time to seek out swords. So if time means something to you, all in all your probably looking at about a 20 hour game if you just blow through.

Oh, well reading the coverage that there is no motion control (which sucks), it does use a Gamecube controller. That I admit is cool, because Classic Controller can be so awkward. Unless if there's D pad support for movement.

*facepalm* Not the point of the post. The point of the post is if there is D pad support for the controllers, because analog sticks on the Classic controller are awkward. Mainly for how the Classic Controller is shaped.

Two things:

1. Don't facepalm me.

2. I asked you because I recall another thread about Muramasa where you kept on insisting that there are motion controls

Name one game that's NOT Brawl that has this regular controller/anti Wii Remote gameplay? Because I just remembered that Sonic Unleashed has gameplay similar to the Genesis games (Hedgehog Stages)that implements Wii Remote and Nunchuk motion use, but who knows, it might be a waggle fest, but I don't know, some people might prefer it that way.

I'm quite content that they did not force motion controls in, I wish more developers would understand that not every Wii game needs to have motion controls if they do nothing to add to the experience.

yep. my only complain is that there's not a wiimote sideways option. this game looks so old-school that playing with a pseudo-NES controller would be awesome :P besides, it's not like you'll need more buttons than those on the wiimote sideways. 1 and 2 for the attacks, D pad to move, A to open "blade menu", + to pause and B to block. covered all commands, right? oh, and - for items, if you have to use them in real time (i think i saw in one video the guy used a healing item). sure the wiimote is too round to feel like a NES controller, but damn, if i can play brawl decently like that, why not muramasa?

[QUOTE="Sepewrath"]I'm quite content that they did not force motion controls in, I wish more developers would understand that not every Wii game needs to have motion controls if they do nothing to add to the experience. BrunoBRS
yep. my only complain is that there's not a wiimote sideways option. this game looks so old-school that playing with a pseudo-NES controller would be awesome :P besides, it's not like you'll need more buttons than those on the wiimote sideways.

From reading the news in the link, you need the D pad to use healing items, so controlling is like Yoshi Story and the SSB games. You need the analog sticks.

*now begins to see why Wii remote play will fail* Okay, I'm convinced. I still think the graphics aren't that great, but gameplay wise yeah.

*facepalms at self and does inaudiable rage for not noticing that like Nostalgia Critic reviewing Good Son*
