new to me and it doesnt sound bad. sometimes i get stuck in certaing ames too and i have to alt+tab and google for help / start my pc and search for help. some hints in a video format which are implemented in the game could be a way to solve that.

I agree--I'm the way way with lots of games... I end up putting them down and I don't realize it after a while and the game ends up not being played since I go on to other games. :)

where does the patent say that there is no challenge anymore? where did it say that u have to use the hints and cant figure out the problems urself? and why cant the wii be consider a core game system anymore - just because there is a optional hint system which is made for casual gamers?

they didn't have to say the pantent takes out the challenge........especially when you say it to help gamers. That in itself takes away the challenge. its pretty transparent. and even if you use the feature or not.........it's pretty sad that its even there to begin with.

and I've went through this hardcore discussion millions of times on here, the wii is not a system made for hardcore gamers, its mad for the casual and non gaming market. thats why they included such a patent to appeal to people who are not really gamers. sole wii owners continuously delude themselves into thinking the wii has any type of appeal to the hardcore market and get so defensive when someone says that its not for hardcore gamers. this discusssion happens no where else but with wii gamers and its a defense mechanism to mask the truth. so stop fooling yourself with this questions.

Why are you so negative? I think this is a brilliant way to keep difficulty in games without alienating a casual fanbase...

i agree with you that the wii is not a system MADE for core gamers.i personally do think that there are games out there which are appealing for the so-called core gamers. maybe i see it that way because for me, core gamers are people who play games since several years and spend a lot of time with it. when i read ur post i get the feeling that u define core gamers as some kind of elite and ur a part of it.

is it possible that ur just mad at the wii or what nintendo is doing with it anyways? sorry, maybe i'm just to dumb or my english is not good enought to follow ur argumentation but i dont get it why it's so terrible that they think about implementinghints for casual gamers. when u feel like a core gamer u dont have to use them - that's it. i mean everybody started as a so-called casual gamer and i bet everybody has used hints atleast once.

don't get me wrong i dont want to begin a general discussion about the wii being a hardcore system or not i just dont understand why ur so sad about the patent.

that sounds like a terrible idea part of the fun of video games is the challenge and figuring it out on your own and plus they already pretty much have something almost exactly like this its called youtube

okay i just read the ign article and it does explain it better and it doesnt sound as bad of an idea like the first article makes it out to be but i probaby still wont ever use it at least not on my first run through of a game because i like the satisfaction of knowing i did it all on my own

Don't you get it's for those who get frustrated being stuck? It also allows Nintendo to make more challenging games, they've been dumbing down their recent titles to make them easier for newcomers...

Umm

Isnt one of the funner things about playing video games the little bit of self accomplishment you get from figuring something out on your own?

and come on... its Wii... like theres anything THAT crazy hard to figure out in any of these games.

Thats just it. The games are simple now so that the "casual gamers" won't get frusturated.

Now with this hint system there can be (and hopefully be) somethings that are CRAZY hard to figure out

sounds like a good idea imo, as long as you can turn it off if you don't want it i'm happy, because i don't like resorting to walkthroughs until i'm EXTREMELY desperate. This just makes it easier for me when i get to that point...

really not my thing, but i guess it could help out the older folks so yeah based on what nintendo is trying to achieve with the Wii it seems to make some sense.

I think it's a good idea if they raise their difficulty in their games so it would be useful for the casual gamer, but hardcore gamers can still enjoy the game.
