The images are obviously inspired by Super Mario World... what I wouldn't give for a new Super Mario World game that is based in the original Super Mario World and not Yoshi's Island. SMW is probably the most "hardcore" mario game if you can call it that. Plenty of worlds and lots of secrets. Best game ever.
I've had all these on my computer for a LONG time... it was a series of fan made artwork and desktop wallpapers. There's similur art style ones for other games too.

yoshi's island is really hardcore if you count that as a mario game(you probably don't count it though) as for the pictures, it looks like paper mario(at least the look of mario himself) which is confirmed as a launch title for the 3DS...

Of course it is fake. But I don't understand why you people are saying it looks horrible. The detail in that picture where amazing. If a game had graphics like that it would be utterly fantastic. You must just be the 3DS haters.

Also the resolution OP gave us was really bad. I look at devianart and it looks 10x better with resolution blown up.
