... why is the tail in the first image attached onto the side of the cart? 0_o
Minishdriveby
It's actually spinning around the cart. :P
Like the 4th pic with the Mii driver.
Over-use of a loved classic item = milking.Rod90... its in 2 games. I, for one, am looking forward to seeing how this is utilized. will it automatically spin or will we be able to spin it with the press of a button? do we just get one spin? or can we continue to spin it? if it continuously spins how long will it last? can we bat shells out of our way? can we clean up bananas off of the track? there are so many possibilities!

I feel it's completely out of place in Mario Kart.Rod90You realize they're in the Mushroom Kingdom right? Anyway, this looks cool! Is it wishful thinking that it can block the damn blue shell?

How? You've played it? It is meant to deflect on coming shells, notably it probably deflects the blue shell (which BTW the blue shell doesn't fly, it stays close to the ground now, so I presume because of that the tail can deflect it)

Is it wishful thinking that it can block the damn blue shell? Absolutely not. They are just courses. And there's even one in Wuhu Island; that's not the mushroom kingdom.
It looks like that screenshot with Koopa Troopa shows Luigi's Raceway from Mario Kart 64. I recognize the track layout and the stands.

So stages like Mushroom Gorge, Toad's Turnpike, Mario Raceway, Luigi's Mansion, and all the others MK courses that aren't Wuhu Island aren't in the Mushroom Kingdom? Odd thinking. Just like the mushroom, star, mega mushroom, and turtle shells, the tail is an item in the Mushroom Kingdom. You must also think bananas are out of place too then. Where do they appear in Mario games?
If anybody other than Nintendo did this it would be crazt but I'm sure it will work out fine. Tokyo EAD and Retro know what their doing

Well, Shy Guy is conformed. You can see him in the link. I hope he is a full-flegded character and not a Download Play only character.
I don't think he's suggesting the whole game doesn't take place in the mushroom kingdom, rather just not all of it.Raiko101That's still not a good reason the tail shouldn't be an item in Mario Kart though...
If it sucks then I object to it. Like the lightning cloud item in MKW. I hope they take it out and put the Boo item back.I don't see why anyone would object to a new item...

The blue shell that everyone seems to hate is the Flying Blue Shell that first appeared in Mario Kart: Double Dash, I don't think it's a bad item it just seems like they didn't balance it enough when they added 12 players to MK:Wii, so it popped up more often annoying any player in 1st place especially if it's a close race, since it slows you down so much. Mario Kart 7 uses Wing-less blue shells like the first games. It does have the blue shell, just no spikes. I have not played the others just the first MK game, so tell me what is so bad about the blue shell anyway??
Kirbside
Here is something I found that may explain it better:
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, the Spiny Shell had gained wings, allowing the item to fly over the course while avoiding all the obstacles around, as opposed to its former appearance, when it would be destroyed when it hits an obstacle. After firing one, it would fly over the track, homing in on the current contestant in first place. Once it reaches its destination, the shell hovers briefly over its target and then lands on the kart, blowing up everything in an area around the kart in an explosion. This shell has appeared lately in Mario Kart DS and Mario Kart Wii. (Source)
I'm glad that there are going to be new items in Mario Kart 7, I just hope they're useful. We still don't know what the "7" power-up does.
Where did you see/hear that!? Awesome if true. I've wanted that all along. :DMario Kart 7 uses Wing-less blue shells like the first games.

If you pause the video fast enough you should be able to see it between 13 and 16 seconds:

I'm pretty excited to try this blue shell out, because I've never used a wing-less version (MK: Double Dash was my first MK), and I hope the tanooki tail works as a nice defense against the blue shell.
Still, i've never been bothered by the blue shell. Without it first place would have a major advantage over the rest of the field, as any good player would only really come under attack from 2nd place, wheras everybody else will be fighting those in front of them and behind.Raiko101
I am w/ you on this. It adds an element of strategy where it is almost better to be in a close second place than first except for at the very end of the race. It helps keep racers tightly packed, which keeps you on your toes as a racer. I am not sure why you are playing Mario Kart if you don't like this sort of thing. Ridge Racer is a perfectly good game...
The wingless blue shell wont make the unhappy any happier. If its the same as the N64 version then every driver, besides the leader, can dodge it. This will become a lot easier too with the map on the bottom screen. Still, i've never been bothered by the blue shell. Without it first place would have a major advantage over the rest of the field, as any good player would only really come under attack from 2nd place, wheras everybody else will be fighting those in front of them and behind.Raiko101If the Tanooki Tail allows people to deflect shells, I would hope it applies to a Wingless Blue Shell. Make it happen Nintendo.
