I don't think you are going to see a Metroid game for a while. I think Nintendo will only trust Retro Studios to make a Metroid game and they are taking a break from the franchise for now.cobrax80What about Metroid Prime Hunters and Metroid Prime Pinball? Those weren't made by Nintendo. They were made by NST and Fuse Games.
I don't think Nintendo cares who makes a Metroid game as long as it's quality. I guarantee we will see a Metroid game soon, whether it is on DS or Wii. I think DS sooner than anything, as the rumors of Metroid Dread are abundant these days, thanks to the scanning "hint" in Prime 3.
Of course if its on Wii, we probably won't seeone for at LEAST 2 years.
Personally I think that Metroid Dread is totally happening and will be announced around the new year. I also think that absolutely a new Wii game will be made as well. Don't know what but I can't imagine they would give up on the series now that it's in it's (sorry) Prime again.
What I'd like to seeis a few things:
-I think Metroid Dread for DS, in the style of new super mario bros is a retardedly awesome idea! I'ma go!
-For Wii a new Retro developed fps. Either a new "Prime" related adventure or a completely brand new adventure.
-For Wii an awesome NIntendo quality 3rd person action adventure platformer. Something like a Zelda universe ora Mario platforminggame. The series would do great that way I believe.
-for Wii I'd like to see co-op of some form, multiplayer, and online vs similar to Hunters. The formula would work too well not to happen.

Those games were spin-offs. The main series is going to be Retro Studios responsibility.

They may be spin-offs, but they are still "Metroid" games. And they are in the Prime universe.I think Retro is going to be busy for awhile, and I don't think Nintendo will let Metroid die off because Retro is taking a break. Nintendo has always proven that they have used different developers for the same franchise and they have always turned out well. Take the Zelda games on Game Boy Color and Game boy Advance. Those were done by Capcom with Nintendo direction and they were awesome.
Don't get me wrong, I love Retro and I want to see them make another Metroid game, but they have said themselves they are taking a break. And if Metroid Dread does surface, I'm pretty sure it will not have been developed by Retro because they have been too busy with Prime 3. I could be wrong, though.
But like I said before, I don't think Nintendo cares who develops a game as long as it's done well. There were a lot of sceptics about Retro before the Prime series and look where they are now. All I'm saying is don't expect Nintendo to say Retro is the only developer to continue with the franchise.

I'm not saying that they are the only developers that are allowed to make Metroid games. What I'm saying is the reason Nintendo bought Retro Studios is because they saw their talent and they knew they were the company to make Metroid Style games. So it is only natural for them to feel safe with them since they have produced 3 good 3D Metroid games. Of course a 2D metroid game might be made by someone else.

Those games are spin-offs....
I wish the game would be in 2D and more in the style of Metroid II (taking out a certain number of Metroids), except tell the gamer where to go a little bit. It's too hard to find stuff in the huge world of Metroid without looking some stuff up. So, Metroid II mixed with Metroid Fusion, essentially. Put some boss battles in there and take out Metroids, sounds good to me. Plus you'd have all the features of the post-Super Metroid games in it as well.
