Appalled at how few Nintendo titles there are during the holidays? Tried the Wiiware ports and would rather play something new? Look no further than Next Level Games!

As Gonintendo reports, the company responsible for next year's Punch Out! title is already deeply entrenched in another sure-hit Jungle Speed. While nobody knows what type of game this will be, early rumors pinpoint the name to a card game that has roots 3000 years old. This would not be the first time Nintendo helped revive a table-top game with new mechanics (Othello). With the announcement of the Wiispeak channel, some complementary games sound like a suitable time pass-me-by.

Now why was this not listed on the fact-sheet Nintendo recently laid out? Because it only listed console games, so the possiblility that this is a Wiiware title will likely bring a smile to anyone looking at games like Carcassonne and wishing the Wii could have a similar experience.

As High-Voltage software can attest, working on a Wiiware title(s?) while creating a console game does in no way lessen the quality of either product. So as I always say

Please look forward to it!

A card game that has roots 3000 years old. This is just a guess but it sounds like Yu-Gi-Oh! to me, that'd be awesome I've been wanting a Yu-Gi-Oh! game to come to the Wii.

Um, it says in the first part of the TC's post Look no further than Next Level Games! Next Level Games isn't Nintendo, they're a third party company aren't they?

Yeah, I meant a card game that ACTUALLY came from 3000 years ago.

There is no scientific proof that Yu-Gi-Oh existed before 1993.

J_Ford

Nintendo is publishing the game, making it a Nintendo game.

No different than what is also going on with Sega and the Conduit.

Well you're right, Yu-Gi-Oh! came out in 1996. But what does 1993 have to do with a game from 3000 years ago? And if you've ever watched Yu-Gi-Oh! then you'd know that it was invented back in ancient Egypt, at least on the show's timeline. So naturally when you said a card game that has roots 3000 years old the first thing that comes to my mind is Yu-Gi-Oh!. Not to mention it's the best card game ever made.

yu gi oh is very good pokemon is just a broken version of magic the gathering but as for the new game i wonder if it'll have online play and if it does will we have to buy online booster packs and such? I really would enjoy a really good card game that had online play that got updated with new cards a lot. If boosters are cheap like 25cents to a dollar or 2 for a good amount of virtual cards

This isn't the same type of card game.

Yu-gi-oh, Magic, Pokemon, Star Wars, etc are considered Trading Card Games, which can be customized with a generic set of rules to govern them all. Those games have more than one condition to victory and multiple ways of getting there.

Jungle Speed is a Shedding game, which has one set of rules, no customization, and one winning condition. Think Crazy 8's and Uno.

The only way I can see DLC in this game would be custom decks with licenced characters on them, something Nintendo has set precedent by not doing on the Wii.

I have never play card deck game...but if I ever do.. I`m with you on this one. I mean the whole point of playing a card deck game is to have fun with some friends somewhere, no where you need to have a tv and a wii... imo

Is why I have never understand boardgames for consoles... e.g monopoly and such..

Ohhh I was really hoping for a game similar to Pokemon tcg or Yu gi oh. That would be perfect for the Wii. Oh well, hope its a really fun and original card game then that comes out.
