Will the pokemon franchise make a set of games after platinum ?

Nintendo usually releases one set of RPG pokemon games per handheld generation. The DS already saw Diamond/Pearl and Platinum will be out soon. Unless Nintendo decides to stick the DSi for another 5 years, you wouldn't see another RPG pokemon game until a new handheld is launchedSoulreavercrossActually, the trend has been to release 2 sets of Pokemon games per generation (I think it's fair to lump GB/GBC together) so I believe we'll see another set of Pokemon games on the DS.

Nop. They realese just 1 set of Pokemon per Handheld. Maybe they realesed FR/LG for the GBA but they were just remakes and not a new hole story. And also that they have to realese a new pokemon in connection with the Anime. They cannot realese a new pkmn when the anime is backlog

Even though FR/LG were just remakes it still counts as a set of pokemon games. So there were 2 sets for the GBA. I agree that the sets for GB/GBC can be lumped together into a single generation.Right now they already announced a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game which is coming out this Spring in 2009. Also they will always be making new generations of Pokemons. I'm betting the new one will either come late during the DSi life or for the new DS if it's released in around 2-3 years. phatkavI seriously hope there is no new DS. Nintendo should seriously mix the systems up a bit, instead of making the same thing with 3 new features every 2 years until 15 years has passed.
I don't think so, the main stream doesn't seems to work very well in consoles. (As pokemon games now features time-based events like berry planting and barking honey on trees, it would be a chore to play those in a console.) Besides how would you play against local players? I guess it could work for online battles... but... Anyway, i believe they will, but i hope they make an epic storyline next time... Or if not, at least make battles 3d or raise the overall quality of the game.i wonder if nintendo will make some sort of ds pokemon gsmes for wii?

Ouaasz
are you kidding me? nintendo not makin a new pokemon for whatever hand held is next would be like them makin another console and sayin "ya know what, i think mario is old enough to not have to go on adventures anymore." there's always gonna be more pokemon.

Not true. The gameboy has RBY and GSC, unless you count the gameboy color as a new system.

But I hope they keep the gym challenge, elite four, pokedex challenge strictly for handhelds.[QUOTE="Soulreavercross"]Nintendo usually releases one set of RPG pokemon games per handheld generation. If you count the colour as just an upgraded version, and the SP as an upgraded version, then its all just a pattern.Gameboy : red, blue, --> Yellow (mix of both)
----> gameboy colour: Gold, Silver, --> Crystal (mix of both)
Gameboy advance: Ruby, Sapphire --> Emerald (mix of both)
----> Gameboy SP: FireRed, LeafGreen (no mix of both as far as i know..)
Nintendo DS : Diamond, Pearl --> Platinum (mix of both)
---->Nintendo DSi: Another generation (quite possible FireRed etc versions of Gold, Silver and Crystal)
I'd expect then next one to come out in the next 2 years or so, they always seem to be 2 years apart. I think the hardest thing will be naming it, Nintendo are kinda running out of Semi-Precious stones and metals here...
