Theres asticky so this will get locked but anyway.

I got Soul Sliver as my first Pokemon game ever and am lovin it. LoZ Phantom Hourglass is maybe better than ST in many ways. Try Fire Emblem if you like ADvance Wars

You don't need any knowledge of any Pokemon game or the show to enjoy any Pokemon game. They all take place in different places and have nothing to do with each other. Actually... Silver and Gold are the only exeptions to that.... They are sequals to Red and Blue. But it stars a new character and i don't think any knowledge is needed from Red and Blue...

In all honesty, the games can never get old while today I would rather drop dead than be forced to watch the shows. So the games are for everyone while the shows are for five year olds. Play the game and you won't be disappointed, just keep in mind that it isn't going to be earth shattering in story but it will be a fun adventure.

Indeed. It's gotta be one of the longest games on the DS, even without figuring in wifi battles and whatnot.

I played the originals (Gold and Silver) and I have faith that they only improved on those games.

You don't have to like the show to get into the games. And believe me when I say as a beginner you will spend well over 45 hours on this game if you really want to get through just about everything.

This isn't even counting catching all of the Pokemon. You may need a guide eventually. I say go to gamefaqs.com for that when the time arises.

I say you get it.

I say skip the new ones and only play the first and second generation, maybe even the third, but not the fourth.

Thanks for suport everyone seems to like the game. :)

Now is there eny diffrence between the 2-3 new games that's out there. And one more thing, is it eny strategy at all or is it just get your pokemon stronger and get futher in the game? Ive been pleying final fantasy and to my eyes the fighting looks the same, *turnbased* but in FF the story dose most of the job to keep you going. How can you not get board of doing the same thing all the time or have i seen the game from the wrong angle?

HeartGold and SoulSilver are great games to start off with Pokemon. It takes you to the early stages of Pokemon but still being in the present. Plus you also get to explore Kanto as well. After that I would go with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and beat those before the end of the year because of the Generation V games will be coming out by then. At least in Japan.
