http://www.cubed3.com/news/7441/1/New_Info_on_Nibris

Ā Over on the Sadness forums they've been having a jolly old time. Besides very recently revealing some nifty new artwork, the lucky things have been writhing around in a wealth of Sadness info - and we thought we'd inform you of the latest:

There will be eighteen different species of monsters that according to your chosen path will determine which ones you see, if any. Not only that, but there will be "friendly monsters", presumably to help you on your journey. It is also stated that two characters will be playable, presumably, the 30-something woman and her young narcoleptic son.

Wii/DS connectivity looks pretty unlikely as far as linking to ROTR goes, but for those of the logical disposition, not to worry, they'll be plenty of puzzles for you to chew on.

Some additional character details have also emerged - the young woman that will be playable is of Polish-Hungarian origin and spent her childhood in England, where she was educated and began a family. The train that crashed had many other passengers; what happened/happens to them isn't yet known. There will also be no load times.

That's the latest, as for some juicy info that you might have missed:

The team are aiming for a minimum of 20 hours game length and the vast majority will be spent as the young woman, 5% of that being spent in Poland.

Voice acting will be used. The team that is currently involved in Sadness is upwards of fifty individuals. Graphics wise - the game will incorporate plenty of fog effects during gameplay, and when asked how close the concept screenshots would look to in-game, the company's response, pleasingly, was, "near. Very near."

...and here's another answer we particularly enjoyed:

Q. Will the music be recorded from an orchestra? [Or will it be synthesizers?]

Nibris: [An] orchestra. One of the best.

Ā Im really looking forward to this game :)

Weren't they supposed to finally show something that wasn't concept art?Ā  You know, some actual game artifact?

They probably wont unti E3. I would rather them do it then so they can blow the doors off the building when its officially unveiled.

No more artwork, please. Are Nibris extremely slow, or just fake? Or are they just very secretive? I want to see how the freaking GAME looks like before I can say that I look forward to it.

It made a big fuss before the Wii was released. There even was a video of the game. I don't if it was gameplay movie or just a repsentation of how the game would look/be like. Anyway, it might be real, more original games coming to the Wii can't be bad.

I don't know why you people are complaining. They shouldn't show anything until it's ready, if it's some horrible footage thatĀ has bad controlsĀ they will get a bad reputation so they have to keep it secret until E3 or something.

Its basically going to look and feel like Silent Hill but in black and white. Sounds good, still having trouble imaging myself playing a game with no colour though.

i don't see why not, maybe not in the sense of actually being there, but releasing the video in the E3 timeframe is actually pretty smart of them, lets not forget about the chance for the publisher who will adopt the project might be a big company who's already is on scedule (sp?) to be apperant in E3, if that's the case then we will definetely see sadness there.

i'm sorry but i see great potential in their work, i know i'm more than likely to be disappointed by this project, but from what i have seen and read so far, this title looks spectacular, and if they can indeed pull it off, then you know that you will eat your own words that you are saying right now.

never the less,Ā  not only what i have said is true, it's also possible, this project has created a lot of buzz maybe more than any other 3rd party title on the Wii, and now this project (which is hyped not only by gamers, but a few cretics as well)is open for any company to adopt and publish it, i can certainly see a few companies looking into this project as we speak.

and even if that's not the case, then my alternative suggestion is good as well, releasing the video in the E3 timeframe with or without actually attending E3 will actually be a smart move on their part, they always hype the title to be one of the"big guns", this way they can see where this title really sits.

either way, i'm almost certain that this game will see the light of day one day, yes i'm a bit too optimitsic, but that's only because i see great potential with this project, i don't see why don't you see it as well.

Why I - and so many other people - don't see it as well?

Because it's a team that suddenly appeared the very day Nintendo claimed the Wii would be perfect for garage teams (yet the only advantage for such teams is that the Wii SDK is relatively cheap, Nintendo announced no other tools) and already announced three times they would reveal a publisher that never was revealed (the worst move a already dubious company could do - done twice or three times!), that is uncertain about the software they're supposed to release (Raid of the River "news" are confusing to say the least), that unveil artwork after artwork, andĀ is only capable of making a trailer showing more concept with an actress holding a paper wiimote.

Arguments in favor of Sadness are based in wishful thinking. Potential is nothing. I see more good concepts than good games - and this means not just cancelled concepts, but concepts brought to reality as well! Even I can come withĀ worthy concepts myself (click my sig). And finally, yes, optimism is good, I tend to be optimistic myself as well, but it won't help releasing the game. Everything has a limit, and when almost two years after announcement, a team is still releasing drawings, it's clear to me this limit has been reached. I can't care anymore about this supposed game whileĀ real developers are making promising software as well (NMH, FFCC, MP3, Project O, etc) and actually releasing footage.

If Sadness ever gets released I'll eat my shoelaces.Ā  A developer that no one's ever heard of and an overly ambitious project.Ā  Plus, no screens or even an hint of gameplay details.Ā  I am skeptical.

actual info on sadness? it's now slightly less vaporware in my eyes. i love the concept and hope they can make it work.

now that I think about it, isn't this kinda normal for nibris? it seemed like forever between when i first heard of ROTR and first saw screenshots. maybe sadness will come out

For people with high hopes w/o actual gameplay footage and whatnot, I have 4 words:

Peter Molyneaux and Fable.

Remember everything promised, and while it was a solid game, it certainly wasn't revolutionary. I'm anticipating solid for this game and would be pleased and surprised to have something revolutionary.

Its good to get some more info on the game, but i would really like to see it in action, gameplay, a trailer or something. also for those who say that they cant go to E3 because they are a small company, that may be true but Nintendo could always have the game as part of thier press conference.

People should stop jumping over bits of concept art for this.Ā  I'm surprised that people are still getting excited over the scraps of stuff that's being thrown out from time to time to drag this whole illusion on.Ā  It's vaporware until proven otherwise.Ā

Good news to hear from Nibris. I was pretty sure this game was canned. I, like the rest of you would like to see some in game shots but you really can't force the creative process. I just don't understand how most of you are so excited, we know almost nothing about this game. I'm backing No More Heroes before Sadness since I'm doubtful we'll see anything from it for a while.

I'm just not excited about this game and I don't understand its hype.Ā  There is not a single in-game screenshot or video.Ā  No one knows how this game will play and a publisher hasn't even picked it up yet, so who knows if it will ever even come out!Ā  The only thing that anyone has seen is some live action clip of a lady scaring away cockroaches.Ā  There's just nothing to be excited about.

This is some very good information. I'm greatly looking forward to this game. I sounds like it's going outside the box, like Dreamfall, Pyschonauts, Hotel Dusk, and many others did and were great. I just really can't wait for an official trailer.

It could be that Sadness is just hype so that ROTR and double bloop sell. But I was going to by ROTR any way, so it dosnt bother me.

Any way hears what i thinks going on. They are a new company. If they put out an unready shot they will be pass of as another rubish developer. so they only realease shot of the game when it is ready. funny because there is another company like that i know. you got to wonder if they havent become 2nd party it would fit the pattern. As they dont get picture release and only released concept art people hype them and cynics just call them vapor. this increases notearity untill they release that game then it has aĀ super level of hype.

[QUOTE="cobrax80"]I don't know why you people are complaining. They shouldn't show anything until it's ready, if it's some horrible footage thatĀ has bad controlsĀ they will get a bad reputation so they have to keep it secret until E3 or something.Wintry_Flutist

As if they could attend E3!

i don't see why not, maybe not in the sense of actually being there, but releasing the video in the E3 timeframe is actually pretty smart of them, lets not forget about the chance for the publisher who will adopt the project might be a big company who's already is on scedule (sp?) to be apperant in E3, if that's the case then we will definetely see sadness there.

YouĀ expectĀ too much from a "team" who has only promises and a handful of artworks.

i'm sorry but i see great potential in their work, i know i'm more than likely to be disappointed by this project, but from what i have seen and read so far, this title looks spectacular, and if they can indeed pull it off, then you know that you will eat your own words that you are saying right now.

never the less,Ā  not only what i have said is true, it's also possible, this project has created a lot of buzz maybe more than any other 3rd party title on the Wii, and now this project (which is hyped not only by gamers, but a few cretics as well)is open for any company to adopt and publish it, i can certainly see a few companies looking into this project as we speak.

and even if that's not the case, then my alternative suggestion is good as well, releasing the video in the E3 timeframe with or without actually attending E3 will actually be a smart move on their part, they always hype the title to be one of the"big guns", this way they can see where this title really sits.

either way, i'm almost certain that this game will see the light of day one day, yes i'm a bit too optimitsic, but that's only because i see great potential with this project, i don't see why don't you see it as well.

I have a hunch Nibris is just being super secretive. This has been one of those titles where you just know **** all about all along, but has somehow managed to keep people interested. I think it was a good move on their part.
