I love Mario as much as everyone else here, but is anyone else kinda disappointed that NSMB2 has already gotten an actual name and official release date ahead of all the other games we've known about for some time now? We've known about 3DS games such as Animal Crossing, Paper Mario, and Luigi's Mansion way before we've heard that a new 2D Mario was coming.

Now, I don't know exactly how much time they've spent developing this so I won't jump to conclusions and claim that it has been rushed. I know I heard some comments regarding the new screenshots they showed recently saying that it doesn't look all that different from previous 2D Marios.

Personally, i've never been a huge fan of the 2D Marios so i'm not exactly super hyped for this. I thought Super Mario 3D Land was awesome but I really don't need another Mario platformer so soon. I've been waiting to hear more about Animal Crossing and the other games, and it looks like i'll still be waiting for a while longer.

I'm very hyped for this, I love any mario platformers. Super mario 3d land exceeded my expectations. The level design was very good in that, so i wonder what they'll do with the next 2d game.

Just because a game is announced first, that doesn't mean it will come out first. They announced Smash Brothers for the Wii U, but you wont be seeing that anytime soon. If you want you can look at it as those games getting extra care.

I think that it was announced too early, but Considering Nintendo's position, they want to reassure their shareholders that they got the company under control

well technically they said during their investors meeting last year that they are making a 2D side scrolling mario game for the 3ds, and that wass before E3 2011 when Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion was announced. Either way im a big fan of the 2d mario games, so i cant wait.

Nah, I think it's refreshing to not have to wait months and months just to get a release date. :P

not really, mario brothers is going to be their biggest seller for the system so it doesn't shock me that it has a release date first, it will end up being more of the same thing more then likely and it will sell a ton, I'm personally more interested in Paper Mario though to be honest with you.

I bet it's something they rushed into production when they were having trouble with the 3DS release(in addition to the various other steps they took). It's not a bad way to respond to a crisis.

Hope they have some good ideas.

Sony need to do something like this to save the Vita.

I suppose it 'jumped the queue' because people are probably more hyped for it than any other game. So they gave it a release date first. And anyway, who knows if this has been in development for a long time? *mysterious music* :P

This might help for more sales for the 3DS.

This is probably because it'll be a big seller, more so than anything else. I'm excited for it and I'll grab it in August, but I'm more excited to find out when Fire Emblem: Awakening, Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion 2 will be releasing.

Although it sucks having to shell out more for a new mario game, I'm not going to complain since... it's a new mario game! New Super Mario Bros. did feel a bit short for me so I'm glad there's going to be more soon. I think those CoD fans would laugh at us about this issue. If you like it, buy it! If you're not too sure then maybe wait for a good deal :P Either way Nintendo is going to have a lot more to offer in the near future.

It's probably because 2D Mario is easier to make, then a 3D game. With Mario they most likely know what to do & how long it would take. It's also possible they have ideas up their sleeves for very long time but never got to use them til now.
