I just bought the New Super Mario Bros. a couple weeks ago and really never found it fun.  When I played this game it wasnt very addicting and seemed too simple and really provided nothing  spectular to capture my interest.  Now Mario 64 was my favorite game on the N64 is it worth buying this game for the ds or will it provide  the same type of feeling I had for the New Super Mario Bros game.   As a side note my favorite ds games are the two Phoenix Wright games

Well, did you find Mario 64 too simple when it was on the N64? If you did, don't get it.

Actually Mario 64 for N64 seemed like it took me months to complete I mean I was always getting stuck and calling people to figure out how to beat certain things.  I thought it was pretty challenging, but I guess with the way this game appealed to me 10 years ago the appropriate question now would be will it still provide that same spark.

I don't know anything about the DS version, but I still find Mario 64 to be quite fun even today, so I say go for it.

Or maybe you should rent it first.

They have made changes to the DS version, but if you liked the original, I'm sure you'll like this too. You could probably find this game used, actually I'd bet you can find it used, it's been out for a while and it's a common game.

It's definitely worth buying but keep in mind 2 things:  1) The game isn't a straight port & all 4 characters are used throughout the game so if you were hoping to breeze thru as Mario, think again.  You actually start the game as Yoshi & have to rescue Mario in order to use him.  2) Since there isn't an analog stick, you have to use the touch screen or d-pad which is ok but not great.  The d-pad is the best of the two especially if you have a DSlite since it's a little more forgiving than the original DS control pad.  Hope this helps. :)

Check out the multiplayer in New Super Mario Bros. if you have a friend that has it too.  Me and my friend at work waste hours upon hours on just one level, it gets so addictive.  We'll get ruthless and tear each other apart at it too.

These two games are very different in the long run. NSMB is more simplistic, I think of it as a merge between mario 1,3 & the super nintendo verson. While Mario 64 was just to complex for me. I like games I can just pick up and play without getting stressed out over them.

If you enjoyed the original Mario 64 then you will enjoy the DS version.

very well put! that is what NSMB is like, and that's why i LOVE it as for Mario64 on DS, it also has 30 more stars to get so if it took you forever before, get ready...
