NEW Wii FPS: The Conduit

Hey Wii Fans,

I don't know if many of you have realized but there aren't very many mind-blowing, graphically intense First-Person Shooters on Wii. Some have said that the Wii isn't about graphics (myself included as a Wii owner) and it's just about gameplay. This is before I knew how powerful the Wii hardware really was. Yes, Metroid Prime 3 looked outstanding and Medal of Honor was great but we need more. It wasn't until I went to the IGN website and found an article on a Wii-exclusive game called 'The Conduit'.

The developer has done so much work on this game and even developed an engine that is pushing the limits of what many thought was impossible on the Wii. I will spare you the technical terms but this studio hasn't found a publisher yet and has been turned down on numerous occasions. The game honestly looks like something for the 360. It looks that great. Take a look for yourself. If you like this game let your voice be heard. There need to be more games like this on the Wii instead of sloppy games just utilizing the bare essentials of the Wii. Developers need to spend more time on games and put the effort into making bigger titles.

No offense but there have been quite a few topics started on this and it's now getting to the point of arguing over it, you should have looked through previous topics as there are quite a few.

Although I personally think it looks like it could be good but until it gets shown running and actually gets someone to publish it this game is just good potential but I will admit the tech demo does at least look like they have put some effort in for a change, whether or not it end up being like Red Steel or not and just being a load of hype is another thing but it needs a publisher before any of that happens.

Yea... I'm not impressed. Plus, did you read anything about the story. It's lacking to say the least. Glad someone is trying though.

High Voltage Games is focusing their energy on making poor Wii graphics a thing of the past.

High Voltage Games, the team behind the brand-new title The Conduit is creating the Quantum3 engine to power their new FPS experience. Featuring "real-time normal mapping, reflection and refraction, post process full screen effects, real-time shadows, projected lights and textures, specularity and fresnel effects, emissive and iridescent materials, interactive water, [and] morphing," all purportedly running at a smooth frame rate.

High Voltage says the Quantum3 engine will provide Wii developers a solid system to develop Wii games that are on par with the graphical offerings of the Xbox 360. The company is making it their personal mission to set a trend in the Wii community where games include more than just a unique play experience, but also offer top-notch graphics.

I'll make my judgment when I see the game in action.

High Voltage doesn't have a very good reputation.. but they have been making games for a long time so who knows..

Excuse me are you calling me a noob? Would you define a noob as some one who has been gaming for about 20 years a noob? Some one who has played tons of FPS games and know what he like a noob and has an opinion on a game that it never done what it claimed to do and had broken controls? You think it's a great game and thats you opinion and I don't that's my opinion and makes me far from some noob.

It's a tech demo that obviously almost everybody here has missed out on, saying there are only like 3 pics...RESEARCH people :P

I can't see anyone say it wasn't a tech demo no one claimed otherwise, although from the 30 or so pics I have seen it look more promising than most visually on the Wii, how it plays no one knows although IGN have promised they will have gameplay footage at some point in the near future.

The tech demo looked amazing, but the screenshots looked meh. I really don't see how it would luck much better in motion, however the lighting was good.

Even if this game did look like a 360 game though, the gameplay is probably going to be boring and generic like most other FPS. And judging by the developer's history, that wouldn't be a surprise. At the very least maybe they'll let other developers use their engine.

Right... is MP3 and medal of honor: heros 2 gameolay is boring and generic? They said they got inspired by these 2 games. The wii is perfect for shooters

Medal of Honor is boring and generic, yes.

And they said the controls were inspired from those games, not the gameplay.

This game is just screaming generic. Aliens invading the Earth! How original.
