I thought the new zelda game was for the wii and it turns out its for the ds! Did they lie to us or do you think they are different titles? To tell you the truth the new zelda for the ds doesnt sound anywhere good enough to somthing they could do with the wii!

Probably will be announced at E3 or early next year.

Don't expect Wii Zelda until fall of 2010 at the earliest (imo)

The DS team is entirely separate from the Wii team. Both games can be worked on at the same time.

Zelda Wii has been in development for quite some time. Nintendo is just holding back information - possibly for a strong presence at E3 this year.

What does one have to do with the other? Console Zelda team and handheld Zelda team have their own seperate projects. And Shiggy already said a million times that Aonuma and his team is working on a new Zelda game for the Wii.

Nobody lied about anything. A new DS Zelda doesn't mean one isn't in the works for Wii. Nintendo is a big company, they can manage 2 Zelda projects, they've managed it before. Also, anyone expecting a new Wii Zelda to be shown at GDC was probably high on hype. Big games like that are saved for E3 not shows like GDC which is mostly for devs not the general public or even the press.

It would have been nie if they'd announced it for the wii. I think the wii is in more desperate need of games than the ds is.

1. They are totally different games

2. Two Zelda games are better than one

3. Why would you think this game negates the already deeply developed Wii game? :?

Nintendo has two completely separate Zelda teams. This DS game is built on the same engine as Phantom Hourglass, therefore it didn't take long to develop. The Wii game is coming, be patient. The longer it takes, the better it will be.

Yes, and it's not like a new Zelda for DS is bad or anything. Don't worry, a new Wii Zelda seems to be very likely for a 2009 announcement at best.

Wait until E3. I hate that people think this is the end of the world. This is "GDC" for crying out loud.

I know for sure that they are still working on the next Zelda for Wii, but I am still dissapointed with the direction they have gone for the DS Zeldas. Phantom Hourglass really dissapointed me and this game (after seeing the trailer) appears to be more of the same. Theworst part of all is that the boat in PH was absolutely terrible and that the train gives you less freedom with a set path (the tracks). There was almost no exploration and very little land mass in PH. Not to mention almost nothing to do after completing the game. I miss Oracle of Ages/Seasons :(

the touch controls, however, were pure genious. The items, combat, and map drawingwere fantastically implemented. They just need to make a Zelda with just those aspects. It would be nice to freely explore vast lands like you did in Links awakening andOracle of Seasons solving puzzles by drawing on the map. Don't need pathetic anduseless transportationsequences and Temples of the Ocean king getting in the way of all the fun!

The new Zelda Wii is still being made its supposed to come out after Pikmin 3. Spirit tracks is just one made by the DS team...seriously it doesn't even sound like a Zelda...Zelda + Trains = WTF? But it might be good, I very much doubt it but it might be.

True, I expected nothing out of GDC, other than hyping the DSi and more Wii sales chart and some tech info about M+. We got way more than that, and many its also stuff we can enjoy right away ;) .

Title of this thread should be "New Zelda for DS Shouldnt you have seen this comming" Nintenodo has been saying very vague things and letting people jump to conclusions for a while now.

Thanks for confurming that, I was worried that they were the same team, thus causing a delay in the Wii Zelda game.
The new Zelda game looks okay, the train thing seems kind of lame to me.

Well while it's definitely good news to see the new Zelda game announced for the DS, they are still working on the next installment for the Wii. I think we can all, and are expecting a new Zelda on the Wii before the Wii's lifespan ends.

Both are very good games. It looks better on the ds anyway. if they make phantom Hourglass for the wii then maybe this will have a chance.

This, but I find it odd that they announce a game that is coming out this year, it does give a small hope of a Zelda Wii announcement with the game releasing this year but that is still highly doubtful.

E3 or TGS for the Wii Zelda. I think it looks fine for a DS title.

I agree, I was a little disappointed too. I'm hoping a new Zelda for the Wii will be announced soon too.
