I hope I dont get modded for this but hey NIGHTS got a 7.5 from GS, another good for the Wii and a pretty good and fair review from GS as well. Good news for everyone.

Hmm...mixed review scores. IGN gives it a 6.8, GS gives it a 7.5, Nintendo Power gives it a 9. This is going to be a tough decision for me.Platyphyllum
IGN actually gave it a 6.5, I don't know where people are getting 6.8.
But yeah, mixed scores. Still, all the reviews seem to agree on what the major flaws are, so you just have to judge for yourself how much those flaws (no checkpoints, mediocre on-foot levels, unskippable cutscenes) will bother you.

Oh whoops, sorry about that :PNo checkpoints isn't a real biggie for me, as long as each level doesn't last 2 hours and as long as boss fights aren't too hard that I will need to repeat the stage over time and time again. The mediocre on-foot levels depends on whether or not there are a lot of them or just a few. I can tolerate a few of them here and there. The unskippable cutscenes also depends. If the cutscenes are as long as Xenosaga's then I'm not getting it :P

Unfortunately, Gamespot said this about the mediocre "filler" levels:
"If these levels were the exception rather than the rule, they would be easier to swallow, but they constitute three of the five levels in each dream world."
:( Why, Sega, why?
That's my major concern about the game, and the only reason I might not buy it. I'll still have to think about it...
I don't know how long cutscenes are, but knowing Sega they're probably pretty annoying and since there's no checkpoints, that means you'll be watching them again and again if you die. *sigh* Again... why?
Sorry, if I sound overly pessimistic here, but it's just frustrating to see a good game dragged down by obvious, archaic design flaws that should have been so easy to avoid.

Good ol Sega giving an awsome game to Shadow the Hedgehog developers and rushing the game for holiday release.
