Shouldn't you be able to take it back even if you didn't take the store warranty? You got a faulty product after all.

Last Friday I bought a new 3ds Xl. I didn't buy the warranty because I take good care of my systems. As soon as I opened it, I noticed a small scratch at the very bottom of the screen. I checked the repair shop and found out it would cost $100 to have the screen replaced. I sent them a long email and they told me to call them. I've never dealt with them on the phone, I don't know what to expect. Will they replace my screen for free if I tell them what happened? Should I even bother calling them?

If you bought it from the store and it came out of the package scratched, they should replace it there.

You should have a 30 day return in the store...

I called GameStop today and told them what happened. The guy said I have had it too long and that I probably scratched it myself, so he wouldn't let me return it. I called a different GameStop after that and made up a story about it not charging right. In the end I was able to get a new one. Thanks for all your help guys!

It was my understanding that all 3DS came with a one year warranty with Nintendo myself, unless they stopped this?

That's a good one, nicely done.
