Awesome! I'll tune in. :D
Hopefully we get to see some new awesome games and/or release dates! I would love to see more info on X.
Well, there isn't much lined up for 3DS in 2014, so they definitely need to stay on top of that while getting on top of the Wii U.
But, I'm keeping my expectation low so I won't be disappointed:
- Donkey Kong footage
- Mario Kart 8 footage and release schedule
- Maybe some Smash Bros. news, trailer, maybe a character
- Kirby 3DS footage, release date
And probably some other minor announcements. And that's the extent of my expectation. I do hope there is more (e.g X, Bayonetta, etc.) but I'm choosing not to expect that so I don't get disappointed. I'm definitely not expecting anything new. If the Direct turns out as expected, then I expect a better Direct sometime early in 2014 or E3.
For Wii U:
DKC TF [Uhg]
Watch Dogs [Gameplay FINALLY Maybe]
Mario Kart 8 [Trailer Release Date]
Smash Bros [Character or something revealed]
For 3DS
MH4 [Hoping]
Yoshi's New Island [Trailer Release Date]
Kirby Triple Deluxe. [Trailer Release Date]
That's about all I think we will get.
Here's myrecap:
Nintendo Direct: 18/12/2013
Iwata:
- Wii U: New game, "Hyrule Warriors" - temporary title (Zelda x T. Warriors): 2014
- 3DS: Kirby Triple Deluxe: Gameplay footage. Modes: Kirby Fighter (like a mini smash bros.), Dedede Drum Dash (rythm mini game)
- 3DS: Yoshi's New Island: gameplay footage
- 3DS: Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder: Gameplay footage, use of augmented reality
- Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter: Information. You get Celebi (rare Pokemon) by downloading before a certain date
Reggie:
- 3DS: Bravely Default: Sleep Point information. Feb. 7, 2013. Unique sidequest available to try through eShop. A unique way of trying out the game. FREE (it's like a demo)
Iwata:
- Wii U: Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze trailer. Gameplay footage. Feb. 21
- Wii U: Sonic Lost World DLC (not for 3DS version). The levels are based on Nintendo levels. Yarn Yoshi art style. Available now for FREE. The other piece of DLC is available later; it has to do with linking with the 3DS.
- Wii U: Wii Sports Club, adding a new sport: Golf. 24 hour free trial for the three sports games (tennis, bowling, golf). Available shortly after Nintendo Direct presentation.
- Wii U: NES REMIX. NES games having mixed and new elements. Available through eShop. Miiverse+Stamp feature available. Available after the presentation.
- Wii U: Dr. Luigi. Puzzle/Tetris style game. Online play available. December 31, 2013. Club Nintendo gets a nice looking Luigi's Mansion figure.
- Wii U: Smash Bros. trailer. Kirby seems to be trolling the Mario Kart characters with his star. (lagged out here). Gameplay with Rosalina.
- Wii U: Mario Kart 8 gameplay. New buggy type kart: Spring 2014.
was awesome. my thoughts:
1. zelda/dynasty warriors mashup looks interesting.
2. lots of 3ds goodies
3. expected an actual new (real) game for wii u. i am disappoint.
4. Def getting that nes remix thing.
5. DK looked interesting.
6. i'm actually sold on MK.
7. couldn't care less about SSB =/
8. DO SOMETHING TO ACTUALLY PUSH THE WII U SALES
It was a good presentation, there shouldn't be any complaints. I'm yet to buy a Wii U but those videos got me wanting one more than ever now.

if i didn't already have one, it wouldn't have convinced me to get it.

Well Mario Kart looked as fun as ever and I've been dying for the new Smash Bros. To each it's own I guess.

look ok for someone that already has the system. but nothing to convince me to buy one, which is their main problem right now.
Was very disappointed with the Smash Bros announcement. The way they did it I thought they where finally going to do what I've wanted them to do with Mario Kart for the longest time and change it to Smash Kart and have characters from all there games in it instead of trying to cram more generic Mario enemy's into karts.
I was hoping for more 3DS release dates and/or new titles, but I suppose we already know quite a few titles on the way.
It was nice to learn of the Bravely Default side story demo. I would like to see more things like this in the future to help promote games. The whole idea of the SP Potions in the eShop is dumb, but I like how Reggie worded it (still dumb though).
great direct.
i love the love for Sonic.
Smash Bros news is always good.
DKCR:TF looks fun
