@ANIMEguy10034: Looks like you need to charge up that Gamepad... It must've been on for fifteen minutes. :p
@roboccs: I have the sneaking suspicion we're going to find out one the titles with the enigmatic "2014" release dates is going to be coming out a little sooner than we think.
I don't know why, but something in my gut is telling me Hyrule Warriors is coming out before August.
I'd like to hear something about X. I love Xenoblade, and X has had my attention since it was announced. Anything new and unannounced is welcome.
@roboccs: Soraya Saga retweeted the Japanese Nintendo account's Direct tweet -- she's married to Tetsuya Takahashi, the guy at Monolith Soft working on X. She's only ever retweeted the Japanese Nintendo account's Direct tweet when we've seen X footage, so, it's likely we'll see it tomorrow. Platinum Games people also retweeted it -- and this Nintendo Direct is happening later than they usually do, probably because of the more mature titles, which would make sense.

Breathe man!
I'd love to see Bayonetta more than anything. Lots of games are going to be shown!
My other prediction is that they're going to announce a bunch of release windows for the spring that's going to lead the overly-irrational who pretend e3 doesn't exist to cry out, "there's no games for the fall!!! Wii U is fail!!"
@IMAHAPYHIPPO:
Lol probably (even though they stated they are focusing the Direct on Spring releases). I've already seen some people complain that the 3DS has no games coming out for it in 2015.
Do they really expect Nintendo to announce their release schedules for titles that far down the road? Do MS or Sony even do this?
With recent investor problems and low sales, I think we'll see an amped-up Direct.
I have to think the same thing.... I'm guessing some Donkey Kong, Yoshi Yarn , and Mario Kart Hype.... Maybe a Bayonetta/X/ Zelda Tease.
I'm hoping for something unexpected like maybe a announcement about something like Metroid U , or Star Fox, or some improvements to the virtual console, including Gamecube/N64 games. Acquiring some Rare IP's would be nice too.
Sakurai also retweeted the Nintendo Japanese account.
Soraya Saga, Masahiro Sakurai, JP Kellams have all retweeted that tweet. Something big is coming.
Oh god... Maybe my body is not ready for this...
[heavy breathing intensifies]
Wouldn't it be a shocker if Nintendo unveiled a bunch of plans regarding the things they talked about recently? With the whole common platform thing, and merging with other companies, gaming or non.
I'd really like to get excited, but I my conscience is keeping me in check. The announcement is for games through the spring, which unless they're pulling out surprises, means Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. Honestly, I'm not terribly interested in those games. Hopefully, they announce and show Bayonetta and X.
And although it wouldn't be for spring, I'd love some sort of announcement on Metroid, Star Fox, and/or F-Zero. Even if it's that they've agreed to let someone else do those games.
In the event the steam on Nintendo's website is laggy, go straight to their UStream channel. The connection has always been better for me on there.
@Meinhard1: While getting hyped up for Directs is always hit or miss, it should be noted that this is the longest Direct in its short history, running at 41 minutes (or three minutes longer than their e3 Direct).

I did not know that. I guess we found out about Windwaker HD, and Yoshi's New Island about this time last year, didn't we?
But I do feel like if that something truly compelling for the Wii U, in particular, they would have shown it in December do generate hype for the system. That's when they needed the Zelda trailer, the new IP announcement, etc. Their recent stockholder meeting also seemed to indicate that they don't have anything really big that they're ready to announce, yet. But that's. just my speculation, we'll see very soon, I guess!
It should be noted that the E-T rating at the beginning means bayonetta 2 won't be part of the direct.
Mario Kart 8 and X looks absolutely fantastic.
EDIT: Bayonetta looks ridiculously fun as well. Extremely impressed by these games' visuals.
Can't wait for them!

Don't care about the eshop titles, though I do like the gba titles going to be available to download online (though I've already beat all the gba games that were announced in this direct)
*SPOILERS*
I like the addition of Little Mac and the release date of Mario Kart 8.
The Monolith title didn't really have a purpose there other than "Reminder: this game exists."
.....
Overall, nothing to drive my desire to want a 3ds / wii U that I didn't already have been before. Nothing pushed my excitement more forward.
Me during the first half of the direct (little mac was cool though) Esp. at that baseball game, that was beyond bizarre, plus the way you pay for the game... just wtf?! And Iwata or someone else has a submarine fetish.
The second half was pretty much nothing, that's the last Nintendo direct I watch. I can't stand how they're presented in this weird ABC kids format either.
@Chozofication: I think they were wary about showing anything new looking at how last year's early Direct went. After everyone kept asking what was coming out in 2013, Ninendo played their entire hand and had nothing new for e3, which didn't go over well.
I've found Nintendo fans are impossible to please. ps4's getting Infamous and the Order, and Xbox is getting Titanfall, and everybody's like "GAMES!" Nintendo offers up Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, X, Bayonetta, etc, and everybody cries, "BUT WHERE ARE THE GAMES?!"
I have to say, though, I was disappointed we didn't get something more substantial in terms of either release dates or a new game announcement.
@IMAHAPYHIPPO: Thats because Sony and Microsoft have the backing of third parties. These systems can have 1st party droughts and be fine because there players know that 3rd party titles will be coming to fill in the gaps. Nintendo doesn't have that luxury, they have to carry their systems with their exclusive titles, and when most of them are coming internally from Nintendo there is only so many they can have in development at any one time, and so the system has these problems.
It also doesn't help that Smash, DKC, MK8 and Bayonetta 2 have been shown off in every direct for at least the last year, some longer, people are getting sick of Nintendo announcing a Direct stream, and just showing the same stuff every time, with nothing new to be excited for. You can end up seeing too much of a game, I certainly feel that way with Bayonetta 2.
@spike6958: I agree with that. I think we've all got a pretty good idea of what these games are doing, and looking back to Mario 3d world, I feel like they showed off the entire game before it came out.
It's starting to feel that way with Donkey Kong, but that said, I think that new trailer for DKC was awesome.
While I think the direct was far from great, and was a missed opportunity for Nintendo to show off a big new title or help convince fans to support the Wii-U, I think there were some notable positive moments.
My own personal positive reactions, going off of recollection by trugs26's updates:
1. Little Mac in Smash Bros.! He looks like he did in the Wii game *cringe*, but that's alright, seems like a good fit for the game. His super transformation turns him into like a roid-rage caveman version of himself? Lol.
2. Steeldiver: Sub Wars is a spiritual successor to Steel Diver, but looks like it could be a much better game. It will be available on the eShop. Technically it was supposed to come out right after the Direct, but didn't yet a moment ago anyway. You can download the game for free and have access to the multiplayer and some of the campaign mode, and two submarines. You can pay to unlock the full game if you like it. I thought this was nice, and I will try the game.
3. Rusty's Real Choice... Something I wanted to point out was the way you can purchase the in-app games in the game. First of all, it's a baseball Mii game, but you can get different baseball mini-games - catching, batting, home-run attempt, all that stuff. But each of the mini-games usually cost $4.00. I didn't think the game was interesting at all, but I was a bit intrigued by their approach to the payment system for the game. You don't necessarily have to pay that $4.00 fee for each mini-game - instead, you can haggle with the game's cartoony merchant (Rusty) using donuts you get in the game, and possibly pay a much lower actual price for the mini-games.
4. Professor Layton still looks interesting. Surprised I still haven't tried one of those games. Might do it someday.
5. Monster Hunter 4 looks better than 3 did when I tried the demo, maybe by early 2015 I'll be interested in it?
6. Inazuma Eleven looks kind of fun, it's like a tactical soccer game. Never played one of these before, and I do like soccer, so I am partially interested. Hope there's a demo. The game is supposed to release today also.
7. Child of Light looks like a nice little diamond in the rough for the Wii-U eShop, and another game that might help interest me more in the Wii-U. It's an RPG, but you also run around in side-scrolling stages doing platforming until you encounter enemies. You play as this girl named Aurora who is trying to save the sun, moon and stars from the Queen of the Night. Aurora is joined by a firefly who a second player can control and use kind of like the second player in Mario Galaxy, and the firefly also aids Aurora in turn-based battles against monsters. Looks like it could be good.
8. Dk Tropical Freeze comes out by month's end, good. Not many games on this direct had a release date for this month or even next, so it's nice that Wii-U owners will have something to look forward to in the next couple of weeks. Gameplay looks fun, and frantic.
9. NES Remix 2 looks pretty good. Works like the original, except it features games from later in the NES's lifespan. The game also includes the full game of Super Mario Bros. as Super Luigi Bros. - you can play through the entire game backwards, as Luigi, and use Luigi's special high-jump. A nice bit of nostalgic flare.
10. GBA on VC is cool, but they only discussed it with Wii-U and not 3DS. No further word on DS games yet. Metroid Fusion was pretty good, I'd recommend that.
11. I was not expecting koopa kids in Mario Kart, so that was kind of unexpected. The tracks do look nice. Did anyone else say WTF? when they saw Bowser cruising 'round in his, erm, "well-endowed" ship-car?
12. Project X looks fun, though it would probably be more fun to play than to watch. Heard a lot of good things about Xenoblade Chronicles, so another game to interest me on the Wii-U.
13. Bayonetta 2 could be cool, but the plot showcased in the trailer seemed like typical cliché anime fare. I like how she can summon a massive version of her own foot to stomp onto enemies.
So there's 13 things that kind of interested me about the Nintendo Direct.

mostly eshop stuff.... instead of nes remix2 i was hoping for snes remix.. lol
a new smash bros mechanic though...little mac charging up for his uppercut....does he have to hit people to charge it up?
bayonetta 2 will release in 2014...
mario kart is may 30th... i was hoping it was may 1st or something..
the x footage looked a bit downgraded but maybe it was the horrible stream quality.

Yeah I hope they do a SNES remix too. With Mario Kart 8, I actually called that date in another thread. Pretty much every big title game Nintendo has worked has that they're struggling to get out on time, and they announce a month for the release, I always expect end of the month. It's like people who sell things for $1.99 instead of $2.00, it just sounds better to the consumer that way :P
Definitely wait for HD videos for X. I remember seeing them again after the last Direct, and they looked much better.
Little Mac looks to be a good addition. It is interesting how they gave him what seems to be a unique mechanic -- his power meter.
Bower's vehicle did seem a little suggestive. Mario Kart 8 looks very nice. Even the retro tracks look nice (hoping to see a couple N64 courses)
While the first half of the year seems pretty vapid, the second half of 2014 looks to have a pretty strong offering:
X, Smash Bros, Bayonetta, Hyrule Warriors, Sonic (I'm one of the few who liked Lost World), and the yet-to-be-dated Yarn Yoshi, Fire EmblemXShin Megami, plus the possibility Nintendo's got a few tricks up their sleeves for e3, which I fully believe they do. Their internal studios have nothing to show after Mario Kart in May... It stands to reason they're working on games, since they're game studios.
a new smash bros mechanic though...little mac charging up for his uppercut....does he have to hit people to charge it up?
According to Sakurai, it's always a OHKO. Mac will be extremely broken if it filled up by hitting opponents. I assume it fills up by the amount of damage he takes, so he'll be in the risk of easily getting knocked out of the stage when the meter is full.
Is it sad that the one thing I was most excited about is the soccer game?!?!
There was a game on the NES, "Tecmo Cup Soccer Game" which was similar. You played the game by selecting actions from a menu, and could upgrade your player attributes. It was fun. I'll defintely check this one out, could be a good upgrade.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about Inazuma Eleven.
