for the DS at WI-FI hotspots. Braintraining, Big Brain Academy, Mario vs DK etc.

This however is a great sign for the Wii - as it says that Nintendo are not against Demos as been the case in the past.

MMMMMMMMMM - I can smell the Wii DEMO Channel now!!! It's not far off.........

I mean come on Nintendo we all know that a Demo of "Super Mario Galaxy" for the Wii exists - "hell" some of us have even played it (at E3 etc). So give it to us NOW!!!!!!!!........ Pretty Please with sugar and a cherry on top.

They'll give it to you if you tell them how to compact it to a size that can be reasonably stored on 512MB of storage.

Forget about the Wii's 512  internal memory for the Demo channel.

It's simple, all Wii demos simply are stored and automatically downloaded to a SD card - simple.

Not so simple.

Wii's SD card system is designed to store data.  The Wii cannot read or access the data automatically.  You have to manually upload and manually download information to the Wii.  Meaning it cannot detect a 2 gb SD card, and direct download, nor could it read it after it downloads.

Another brilliant idea would be to turn the Wii into a DS download station for DS Demo's since the download stations are usually at places you don frequent very often to take advantage of the awesome service. I mean, for for some people, if what we don't have is not at a store we shop at, we usually just go home and buy online. Its even more common for me to buy online since I am not in America currently and have no idea where to find one.

Can't that be fixed by a firmware update?

Most likely yes since the wii on the default factory version couldn't read SD cards at all. The manual informed people of this if they were intelligent enough to read it.
