Recently, whenever I boot up my DS (Original, bought weeks after release) it will freeze before the DS Logo even appears. Then after a few attempts I get to the Main Menu, only for it to freeze again. Has anyone experienced this problem before?

If you bought it when they first came out maybe its reached it's peak in useage. If you've played it alot that'll probably add on to that factor. Personally I've never experinced this problem, being as it is, I've only had my DS for almost a year now, but I can only suggest sending it in and perhaps they may be able to fix it. If that doesn't work, sorry to say, you may have to upgrade. :?
Hope you find a solution.
Well, after posting I tried taking out the games, and blowing into the slot to maybe clear something up. For the moment being, it now works fine. I don't know if this is due to many consecutive boot ups, or I took it out of it's normal "resting place", which may be too dusty. Nevertheless, I still have to see how it acts after returning it to where I keep it, to see if that is causing the problem.
As for it being and older system, I agree with FallofAthens, as it may be time to switch to the DS Lite; but I don't want to spend that kind of money, because it's not like having the original DS is limiting me to certain software.
Trade in Value on your old DS, or you can get a used"fat" DS from EBGames or somethingWell, after posting I tried taking out the games, and blowing into the slot to maybe clear something up. Well, i'm gonna just recommend you do a trade-in and get a lite. Not only is the Lite better. But you can save some bucks. Because it may break b4 u expect it.
Same thing happened to my PSP(other problem) and it broke. Later it fixed itself up. I was thinking I mite as well trade it in for some value(and hopefully, it breaks when the store staff use it lol) before it breaks permanatly. Next few days, I never traded it in, and it broke.
Well I have to comment on the 'next' DS: personally I don't believe they'll be another one at least past 2010. It's not they really need to make another one right now, it's selling well game-wise and system-wise so why release something new when they are currently making a profit off of the current? Besides this will give them more time to process and ready the next system with more thought into it.
As for trading it in: I've seen, when I went to Gamestop one day, this mother helping her son trade in there older DS for a new lite one, lowering the price by 1/4, 2/5, can't remember because it wasn't working to well. If you have access to a Gamestop that may help you with the price, but if you don't mind using one used that hopefully will work better, you could try Ebay or some other online shopping site and buy one that way surely for much cheaper.
I'm glad you at least got it working for now, sucks about the router thing though. :? But have you tried sending it in to Nintendo? Maybe if they took a look at it they could help you out. (Don't they give you a new one if you send in a broke DS?)
I've left it in the cold before, and it did freeze. Since then it has worked fine and have been keeping it on the floor next to my bed, which may be too dusty. Other than that, it is scatched up and the R button sticks. Also, the DS is older, and it won't work with my wirelss router due to it's security. All of these reason lead me to want to buy a DS Lite, but as aforementioned, I don't want spend to much on a system I already have, and also mentioned above, might have a successor in the near future. Maybe if I can find a cheap system on eBay I'll go for it, but hopefully I can stick it out until Nintendo releases some news. Other than that, does anyone have solutions to the scratches, or sticky buttons?StargamerX

dont worry though the DS' successor wont arrive anytime soon......
