Well I just bought a Nintendo DS yesterday, after 3 months of constant unlucky search (it was sold out everywhere), and I am happy to say that I am loving every second of it. I bought the New Super Mario Bros. game, which is amazing but I am looking for new games to buy, what games do you guys recommend me?

P.S. I know that you may be bored to read another "what games should I buy" topic, but I am truly new to the DS and to the handheld console market, this is my FIRST handheld console I have ever owned, so I practically don't know what games are out there and specially which are the best!

Mario Kart is the top rated game for the DS period and is a no brainer as a purchase. Elite Beat Agents is another; rated game of the year by this site last year and with good reason. Tony Hawk's American Sk8land is also a blast, can be a little hard to find; I just got it from walmart for 19.99 though. I don't know, check the reviews for the DS games because alot of what you'll want to get will depend on what kind of games you like.

Thanks for the recommendations guys! I will check out these games and see which appeals to me the most. How about the Castlevania games? I have always loved these series, I see that there are two for the DS, dawn of sorrow and portrait of ruin, are they any good? which one I should start with?

Well if you have always liked the Castlevania series as you said in your post then you definitely need to get both of the DS titles.

Yeah, both Castlevanias are excellent choices.

By the way, all the people that are recommending Metroid Prime: Hunters are probably doing so for the Wi-Fi multiplayer. If you don't plan on playing it online, then I highly suggest you don't get that one, as the Single-Player campagin is quite frankly terrible.

I also just bought a DS (my first Nintendo handheld). I suggest looking at all the GS reviews for a start. You can sort them all by highest score. Read/Watch and decide from that. Don't neglect the GBA catalog, since this is also your first Nintendo handheld.

I recommend Mario+Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA) and Partners in TIme (DS). They go together well, as do the Yoshi's Island games for each platform.
