That scares me alot. Many Gamers already say that the Wii is the weakest system. This generation of gamers seems to mostly play the never-ending wave of generic shooters. Don't people ever get tired of pointing at something and pushing a buton to kill it? GOOD shooters like Halo are fun, but I know people that ONLY play crapy, genericshooters.

Nintendo isn't putting unnesisary gore and violence into their games, so the Generic Shooter player that calls himself "Hardcore" is turing his back on Nintendo.

My fear is that Nintendo is going to keep getting more and more casual to keep a flow of moneyuntil you wont find Nintendo products in the Game isle at the store, but the Toy isle intead.

Even though Nintendo makes the best games ever, without violence, gore and sex, Nintendo is being branded as the child company.

Something seems to be very wrong with this generation of Gamers when good games are being ignored because they don't have shooting.

I wouldnt worry too much about that. Its true that the wii does have alot of casual games, but i think nintendo knows what there doing. I doubt they will completely abandon hardcore players.

I'm sure Nintendo will keep everyone happy sooner or later. I'm betting we'll see more than one Zelda and Mario games during the Wii's lifetime.

My feeling is that if someone wants to play the same regurgitated shooters over and over, let em. I'll be too busy playing Metroid and Zelda to give a hoot.

IMO, FPS will always be overrated. I had fun with Half Life 2 and FEAR on PC but now it's becoming to the most oversatured genre ever made.

I'm very happy with the Wii, that's all that matters to me. I'm looking forward to at least 5 games coming out this year alone, that's more than I can say for any other system.

I don't see him hating on the wii. He does have a point though. My dad just bought a wii yesterday. It is a lot of fun but I really dont see it as being much more then a party system. mabye a few good games but mostly just casual stuff.

ok first of all its losing...drop the second O people and learn to spell :P . Second of all casual games take less time to make thats why we are seeing so many now but its been about a year since launch so soon we will see metroid prime 3, super mario galaxy, and super smash bros. brawl. There is a rumor that no more heroes is coming out in september for japan so we might see it soon after. That's all just stuff coming out this year there's plenty more games to come. The only hard-core gamers nintendo is losing is the impatient ones because I don't see any good ps3 games out now either and it took about a year for xbox 360 to get some good games.

Nintendo already failed with the GameCube trying to market toward the same gamer as Sony and Microsoft. Trying to do it again would just be suicide. If you really support Nintendo, you should be happy that they found a way to sell what is an incredible amount of systems in a short period of time without showing signs of slowing down. I used to play video games a lot and was a very large supporter of Nintendo, and it saddened me to see them slip over the years. The video game market had reached its maximum potential, and Sony and Microsoft, with their vast resources, could easily top Nintendo. So the only option was to expand and create new markets, which they have successfully done. And there will always be a casual gamer market too, because not everyone has the time, desire, or capacity to play a 40 hour RPG game.

I agree. If there is a game that you like, then play it. I play Super Swing Golf for Wii. Sure it may look like a game for younger people, but it's great nontheless.

The Wii has the best lineup of the three consoles. I wouldn't trade my Wii for any system out there.

are you sugesting that nintendo should use cheap gimmicks to attract casuals, use cheap gimmicks to attract idiots that only like games with guns or kitanas, and totaly ignore those who like ninty for the non gimmicky stuff? i'm much more satisfied with cheap gimmicks for casuals, non gimmicks for real gamers, and ignoreing the idiots.

Sounds like you care too much about what people think of the games you play. As long as the game is good, who cares about the opinions of those who wouldn't even give it a chance?

Would you rather that Nintendo spent all their time trying to directly compete with Sony and Microsoft and go out of business as a result? Because you and I both know that is what would happen. Yeah I would like Nintendo to make nothing but Metroids, Marios, Smash Brothers, what have you, but that would be selfish and wouldn't make sense to stay in business.

Well the 360 may have all it's pretty online and shooters, but the Wii is actually giving some of us more than a bunch of shooters. We got a nice variety of games coming this year that any hardcore gamer could sink their teeth into.

  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
  • Super Mario Galaxy
  • No More Heroes
  • Medal of Honor Heroes 2
  • Battalion Wars 2
  • Soul Calibur Legends
  • Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn

That's just my list of games I'm definately going to be getting this year. Nintendoisnt losingme!

I own a Wii, obviously, an XBox 360, and a DS. I don't own a PS3 nor do I plan to in the near or even distant future. There are virtually no games on that system that interest me. There aren't too many games that I want to have on the DS apart from Phantom Hourglass and Heroes of Mana. The only game coming out on the 360 that I want this year is Mass Effect, I'm not into Halo so Halo 3 means little to me.

On the Wii, I'm looking forward to Metroid, Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros., BWii2, No More Heroes, Soul Calibur Legends...really everything that Lord_Omikron mentioned. I'm also looking forward to MySims as well. Look kiddy? Yes, but so does Animal Crossing but that's a fun game, MySims looks even more intriguing. So make that a total of at least 9 games that I'm looking forward to, and that's just this year alone! The Wii just has more games that I like to play. To each their own.

For me it's not about shooter shooter shooter. I just dont' want to play something cute. I'd rather play the sims 2 than my sims. I think something like condemned criminal origins where you really bash enemies would have been really cool on the wii or even one of koei's hack and slash dynasty warrior games or how about a destoy all humans game? That that kinda borders on cute. no more mario in everything please.

I was really looking forward to the wii ssx game but i heard it had quite a few control issues.

Ok let me put things straight:

The Wii can't compete with the 360 or PS3 when it comes to "hardcore"... true? Ok, they're doing a damn good job with the casual gamers and thats what counts to them: TURNING EVERYBODY INTO A GAMER!

With that said let me get to the point. I have a 360 with GoW, Lost Planet, GRAW 1 & 2, etc. Half my friends are noobs at these games and it's so frustrating playing with them cause they're not really into games (i live in switzerland) but ever since I got my Wii... I felt the balance between hardcore and casual ...dammit i've never had so many of my friends smiling and having fun whilst playing games.

I kinda think they're gaining hardcore gamers... i'm sure alot of people have Wii-360 or Wii-PS3 combination.

PS3 + 360 = Hardocre, serious gaming Wii= Casual, family fun (with occasional hardcore games). Who cares if they are like that?
