I have been noticing throughout the last couple days people complaining of boredom with their system. While i understand this is just a dry spell, let us look at the times US the loyal Nintendo fans have had to deal with this, The N64 (remember the wait in between games, there were months when we got nothing), Game cube (the same can be said with this, grant it there were good titles, this system just lacked what the other 2 had) And now the Wii.... Maybe if Nintendo added a little thing called Online, added voice chat, took away those **** friend codes and allowed us to play how we want to, we could stand the dry spells. Stop making excuses for Nintendo. Maybe... and i reiterate just maybe Red Steel would of been more fun if we had online with it, and when i say online i want 16 player online. I would even pay for online, if they gave me what i wanted. Explain to me how Xbox and Playstation had their online systems set up last generation and Nintendo still cant get their act together? Explain that, and then proceed to tell me that the wii is this amazing masterpiece of a system. I will give it to you that it is unique, but as of now its wouldn't receive more then a 5/10 in my ratings. Nintendo just give us what we want!

what is the big deal with these friends codes, can you only play online with people whom you have swapped codes with and can't just randomly play with anybody that's online looking for a game?

online voice chat would do wonders for building up a wii internet community.  they already have a competitive advantage with the wii controller and the price tag.  its time to steal Live from the xbox lol.

You're right. People here forgive nintendo, because they've been loyal fans forever. I personally think online being excluded from launch and sustained for 3 months is ridiculus, and unforgivable.

Look, 3rd parties NOW do have online kits and workings in their offices and there are online wii titles on the way - more so than DS.

You do make some interesting and valid points. However, its still in launch phase. The games are rushed (FarCry really made me cry) and not alot of em look pretty, not by Gamecube or even PS2 standards. However, I will give Nintendo this: the games out right now are varied, fun, and definetly brings alot of new things to the table. Virtual Console is picking up pace and alot more (and better) games are coming out for it. But overall, I think a good amount of developers were surprised when all of a sudden Nintendo said, "hey check out our controller, its motion sensitive!" (not really a quote), and alot of them tacked on motion.

Above all yes, I agree with you. There's all this potential in its online, but none of it is used. While, Virtual Console games are great and all; its about the now and showing off the Wii. People are arguing about whether or not consoles need online. At this point in the industry, yes, they do. While I'm sure Nintendo has something in mind in the future, it needs to be put in place soon. Online console gaming is pretty much a norm at this point, Sony and Microsoft has their online service solidified for a good 2 console generations (imo Microsoft moreso than Sony), it is time for Nintendo to well.... get with the times.

As far as the friends code goes, I'm partial. Its a bit tedious but overall much more "safe". On Live, EVERYONE drops and F-bomb or two. The system allows parents to have a piece of mind if their child is playing online, which is a great feature, but it is too tedious for those without kids.

Great points :)

Online isn't the main appeal of the Wii. If you don't like it, get a 360.

I think your completely wrong, maybe 3-4 people a week post their bored out of 5million owners, there's stacks of games and tones of VC games, the Wii is great. Maybe the people posting this just have no friends for multyplayers or money for new games. I don't think Nintendo will struggle if they fail to read your amazing findings.

All so read my post above but people like this guy as well have bought a Wii for the wrong reason if you don't see how good and fun their one player and offline multyplayer is. Nintendo has never been online on a home console (PSO aside) so why get a Wii and just moan when its not online. Nintendo has routs to the home console market and can't dump that for instant online strong games like other systems have.

I dont even care for the on-line option to play against other people personally. The 360 from what i heard has nailed that really good so if i wanted it i would get a 360 and not a Wii. As for this dry period ye it bites a little but from next month games r gona start coming out and seriously people...we got plenty of stupid games at launch (not saying all) because developers were in a hurry to bring games out for some fast money. Lets actually enjoy this break as we know this time is spent on the development on new and better games.

Not true, click the link on my signature :)

But I think Nintendo knows what it's doing. Online is coming for those that want it, but other cool features are coming too. We didn't see the true side of Connect24. plus downloadable demos, an other vc like project. That takes time to set-up. As for the game, I think those dry moments are a must. companies must take their time to make good games.

what i don't get is, nintendo already made a parental control feature with the Wii, so why wouldn't they also make make the friend codes only a part of the parental control, meaning everyone who doesn't have parental controls can play online games without FC's, that's the best of both worlds.

I personally believe WiiConnect24 was included for a reason. I also believe the WiiVote channel was included to help refine future online games. My prediction is that we will hear about many online games utilizing both of these features from the upcoming Game Developer's Conference (2 weeks from now), and that some of these games will enter mid 2007.

ok, quit your crying. plain and simple. go sell the damn thing if you don't want it. I'm tired of all you whiney kids crying about online. It's coming. Do you want the PS3 of online? Substandard and rushed? Or would you like them to do it right? Everyone is being patient because we have faith that we're waiting so long for a quality product. The only reason online is a must is becuase you don't have real friends.

You must remember that a lot of 3rd party companies were iffy about the Wii when it was announced and they decided to wait and see how it went before making games.  Now it has taken off and they are all scrambling to catch up.  This dry spell is considered "development catchup time" since everyone has games in the making and they won't be done for a while.  This time next year I bet games will be flying out of our ears left right and center.
