Nintendo not having online costing them bad? (a story)

My cousins were about to get a wii all hyped up and stuff but suddenly they ask me is there any online game on the wii. I said no and pokemon is online coming on june 25th. But they were like whaaaat no online and so they bought a premium 360 yesterday with call of duty 3 now i am soo mad cuz we cant play online games on the wii.:cry:

Some people only play games with the desire to play against other people.

Unfortunately the Wii does not accomadate that right now unless they are sitting next to you.  In the future there will be more online games for it, but it will never be as online centric as the 360 is.

Hopefully there will be some online games for the Wii released that will convince them that getting a Wii would be a good idea later on so you can play games with them online.  If anything it would be a good way of keeping in touch with family.  I hardly ever talk to my cousins anymore.

I don't think the wii is being hindered by anything at the moment...

i want a wii... but since (and after 7 freaking months) i haven't found one i'm starting to convince myself in buying an xbox 360. Hope i can find a wii soon or i'll be pretty pissed.

You should try reserving one at eb or gamestop if you can't find one, just make sure you call them and ask when they're taking reserves on wii's often. 

You still need to camp out to get a Wii 5 months after launch with no slowdown on the horizon

What the heck kind of statement is that? Anyone who pays an ounce of attention sees that Nintendo isn't hurting at all in ANY part of their sales ploy right now. When online comes in 2 months it'll only greater enhance what's already there. 

I think online gaming is important, but at the same time some people make it out to be more important than it is. Online gaming should be looked at as an awesome bonus, not something to make or break a game.reggie186

I dont give a rats ass about how much profit nintendo is making from their system if i dont like it. The fact is they are doing good in sales, but how does that help anyone who wants online? In fact, it should be pushing them to add more work to making a half decent online support instead of sitting on their ass releasing everybody votes channels, popularity channels, and 10 dollar n64 games and dishing out old ass ports with no upgrades and tact on wiimote controls for 50 bucks. I recently got a 360 and i have played that as much in the past week than i have the wii since launch. Hell, sony has been adding more free content and features even though its sales are seriously lacking compared to wiis.RoyTheSwordsman

No kidding. You'd think that with all the dough Nintendo is raking in they'd be able to hire some employees who know how to get off their asses and work. I fear Nintendo has become complacent because of their sales, thinking "well, I guess we don't have to do anything now that our sales are so high." Nintendo needs to get their online act together ASAP and actually support their customers with new content. Firmware updates with new features, useful channels for demo downloads or extra content for current Wii games, updated Mii features and a more robust online setup, etc. And no, 15-year-old games don't count as new content.

Thats says it all. 

Too bad alot look at it as the most important part of a game, especially in the FPS genre. I think some games really dont need it, and some games can benefit from it. However it shouldnt have to be a standard, seems like now a days people want online put in the game before the single player is even added.

June. Pokemon in North America and Mario Striker on PAL its a start.

who told you nintendo doesn't have online?

 I'm somewhat disappointed on the lack of online play, however nintendo has a strong lineup of

games coming out for online play.

Why did your cousins buy a premium 360??? Should of got a 360 elite, its made for those who dont have a 360 yet :P

 Also, Wii will have online and why not get one now and enjoy it, instead of waiting for all the people who dont have one to suddenly rush the stores now for a Wii to play online? Should have gotten a Wii
